I need to find out why as a wife that I am no longer reported as Authorized user on credit report. I have been told that CB and CC do not report this anymore. Being from Texas, I am responsible as my husband is for the bills. My credit score has taken a dive. I thought that according to EQCA required that spouses had to be reported as AU on credit report.
I don't know why you are not. I am listed as an AU on my mother and father's card. I just spoke with the credit card company yesterday and they said it will be reported the the big three within 30 days.
Thanks, but I have talked to all our CC and the 3 CB and they say they are no longer reported. I have asked why not and they say I'm not responsible for the bill. Since Texas is a community property state, I am responsible. I just don't like to loss postive tradelines that are 25 to 30 years old. Does anyone know who to contact about the Equal Opportunity Credit Act? Maybe they are no longer required to report. The only thing what will I need to do to get credit if something happened to my husband, I would have no credit history and a very low credit score.
why don't you have your husband call, and add you as a second cardholder. They sometimes pull hards for that though, so watch out. Or, have him talk to the CC companies, and request that you be put back on as an AU. I have my husband on one of mine. Will add him to 2 more, but was waiting to get a CL increase, because his credit sucks! It seems to hold me back from getting an increase, with him on there!
You should have your husband call the companies and have you added to the accounts. This is not fair to you to be responsible for these accounts and pay on them for all of these years, to just lose your cedit history like this. Also, you're right about if something happens to your husband. Take measures to protect yourself now!
