Roby, From what I've seen here, Target seems to be an easy card to get. I also think JC Penney isn't too difficult to get as well. Good luck.
Hey Miami, Target and JC Pennies, 2 stores that are no where near me oddly enough. Do you know where your FICA was when you started to be accepted for store cards?
Have a Foleys nearby? I went with my sis' to Foleys recently, they gave her $500 and she has a very colorful credit history. Same day, JCPenney only offered her $300.
I believe Fashion Bug is relatively easy and Express or Limited if you're a student. Student status used to help for the May Co. (Foley's, Rich's, Filene's, etc.) too. I don't know if anyone has mentioned if WalMart is easy or difficult but I always see the person at the table in the front of the store promoting applications so maybe they're aggressively seeking new credit customers.
I was considering Target myself. Anybody know what they take into account? My scores are low but at least two ofmy derogs dropping off by Jan. 03 Thanks! Trina
At 627 you should get the Target, even with derogs. they will probably start you at 200, but many of us have had them automatically increase to 500 within the first few billing cycles.
I just applied for Target and got approved for a $200 guest card. It so happened I had all the derogs in dispute (4)(They pulled Equifax) Last month I applied for it and got denied. 2 derogs were not in dispute. My score with all 4 derogs in dispute was 659. Hope that helps!! Janet
You have to remember, all the CC's are tightening their CL's. I think that a couple of months ago a very low 600 would have gotten a Target Visa and now it's down to a guest card. The main thing is not to abuse it and the CL's will grow. Charlie
JC Penney, Sears, and stores that get their credit cards from the Monogram Credit Card Bank is hard to get if you dont have any credit or have less than perfect credit. I ve looked up Monogram Bank ( stores like Gap, Disney, and Victoria Secret) and has alot of complaints from the BBB.
Walmart is difficult to get. their credit card is from Monogram Bank of Georgia. I saw alot of complaints about this card concerning customer service.
I have NEVER had any problems EXCEPT UNDERSTANDING THEM SOMETIMES... I really like the 0.00% deals... I only get a $200 BUMP in the limit just about every 3-4 months... Although it VIOLATES my $5,000 minimum credit limit rule...I still took it...(WAS A "REAL" PRE-APPROVED)...
Walmart gives you automatic increases? I know you have the George factor going on BUT I have had the Walmart card since they rolled it out and I have yet to receive ANY type of increase. 1,000 limit holding steady. Same for Target until I asked for one after 5 years and then they gave me $200. BTW I have no lates or anything w/ either of them and use the cards and pay them off too.
I have a Lowe's card also issued by Monogram and have derogs on my report late pays on Student loan, old collection from CBA from ameritch, charge off from Dayton's/Target about to fall off and Capital One(this one is a paid charge off). I got mine in July, I applied online, got a denial and then about 1 week later a Lowe's card with a 500 dollar limit was in my mailbox. I was actually thinking about applying for Walmart and Old Navy but don't want to be declined and have the inquiries.
