Strange collection - AMEX. Advice?

    Hi y'all,

    About 5 months ago my husband ran into trouble with his two personal AMEX accounts, and both were sent to collections. We paid the respective balances in full right away, within a week of being contacted. A couple months ago he received a statement from AMEX on one of the accounts which indicated he had a credit. Amex sent a check for the credit amount. Well, several weeks ago husband got a collection letter for the amount of the credit from a different agency - not either of the ones that had contacted him about the accounts earlier. What's going on here? Should we contact AMEX, or demand validation, or what? It's a relativley small amount, but we're just pissed about it coming back from the dead.

    You should contact someone at American Express and demand clairification.
