I disputed Gulf state for probably the 5th time after being re-inserted all five times. I always disputed as not mine. It gets deleted then 2 months later it magically will re-appear. Well I accidentally checked off never paid late in my last investigation request, well they did not respond in time as always and equifax updated this account to the following:

    GULFSTATE CREDIT (Individual)

    Credit Grantor Contact Information
    P O BOX 105460
    ATLANTA, GA 30348-5460
    (800) 425-0006

    Account Number Not on record
    Account Type Open Account
    Credit Limit
    (High Credit)
    $x,xxx
    Minimum Monthy Payment (Terms) $0

    Date Opened Not on Record
Date of Last Activity September, 2001
Description Paid account / zero balance
    Account closed by consumer

    Last Report on June, 2003
Balance Current status Past Due Amount
    $0 Pays account as agreed

    Recent Payment History

    Seven Year Payment History
    30 days late: 0 60 days late: 0 90+ days late: 0

I think I will leave it alone now and see what happens. I find it funny that I have a positive tradeline now from a ca. So as far as equifax is concerned I have 0 derogs now.

Also, I noticed something. Trans Union never marks accounts as being in dispute but I disputed a cross country account and cross country marked the account in dispute and FICO is not calculating it on any of my reports now. So actually my tu and equifax reports both show 0 derogs now. So what I think is TU knows that if the account is marked in dispute then FICO will not calculate it and I think they purposely don't do it for this reason. Just my theory.

I hate to disappoint you, but just the fact that it is a collection acct is a negative. Creditors or potential creditors know who Gulf State is. Having it on your report even the way it is now, is not a positive. I would still try to get it removed.

Try calling CRA on the phone and talk to a SUPERVISOR...

This is NOT MINE...why does this keep on showing up???

Ask them what PROOF they have that this account is tied you you...

I designed a really forward letter to Gulf State a while back for reinserting. The TL was gone the same day I received the green card and I never heard from them again. I will be willing to share.

Hey Rocket, we are all always looking at new and creative ways to success! I'm really curious of your approach to the furnisher for reinsertion. I've always gone after the CRA's.

This letter was specifically designed for Gulf State/OSI/ whatever name we choose today. I will be happy to email it or post it here when I get back home tonight.

I do realize this is not a positive tradeline I just found it funny how they have it listed now. This account was paid off in full almost 2 years ago.I had sent gulfstate a request for validation back in january. They never responded but the account did disappear from my tu file that same month. However, it keeps getting reinserted on Equifax. I kind of got side tracked ( we had a baby) so I did not really follow up on my request to gulfstate for validation.
