    Hi Everyone,

Today I got back my first response from TransUnion
and I'm extremely confused - here is an excerpt from the two letters I received:

    Letter 1:

Thank you for contacting TU. Our goal is to maintain complete and acurate information..bla bla bla
The FCRA requires us to investigate free of charge information on your credit report you believe is inaccurate. If you believe a CREDIT REPAIR COMPANY over charged you for services please let us know.

    Letter 2:

Thank you for contacting TU. Our goal is to maintain complete and acurate information..bla bla bla
If you would like to contact a creditor regarding the information they have reported to TU, you may contact them at the address and telephone number's below.

Then this letter proceeds to state the address/Phone number of EVERY creditor on my report as bellow (30 or so of these entries)

    Creditor
    P.O box 1
    wherever, CA 94000

Can someone please explain to me what this is all about?.....have I been sent a frivolous letter, even though it states NOTHING about being frivolous?

*** Please note it's been exactly 15 days since they received my CHOD disputes. IF THEY ARE MESSING WITH MY RIGHTS I WILL SUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for all your help,
    Sal

    hey sal,

the first letter is a generic letter they send out in hopes of scaring those who may or may not use a "credit repair organization" Ignore it.

the second letter intrigues me. it sounds like they actually sent you "their" version of a procedure request! I have NEVER seen one of these. You might call them on Monday to see if anything in your report is in dispute, that's it. do not ask or say anything else.
Usually when you get the first letter, that means they have started an investigation, but the second letter perplexes me. What did your dispute letter look like?

    Marc,

Hey, I appreciate your quick response!!!

Your impression of the second letter is pretty much the same as mine - it looked like a procedure letter. The part that disturbed me was how they mentioned "If you would like to contact the creditors directly, please use the addresses below....

Does this sound like they are REFUSING to investigate, and the handing the ball back over to me? Also, if that was the case, do you suppose I'm better off (or worst off)?

As for my dispute letters, please trust me on this, they were drafted very professionally. The letter basically is my own version of ones I've seen on here. They are VERY specific as to what I requested i.e THIS ACCOUNT WAS NEVER LATE/CHARGED OFF.
(I don't have access to them ATM because they are sitting on my office PC otherwise Id show you)

By the way, ALL my disputes with all three CRA's are under investigation (still can't tell with TU though) so I must have done something right.

In closing, would you say I'm sitting in a bad situation or a good one?

    Thanks,
    Sal

TransUnion is so ridiculous, there's no way you're in a "bad" situation with them. It's just a matter of when, not if, they will eventually delete. Since they sent a procedure request letter, I would call Monday to see if they are actually investigating anything. But my instinct tells me they are investigating and they sent out the procedure request letter to cover their butts during CHOD.

Ok, I'll wait until monday and give them a very GENERIC call (I will only ask if there are any disputes under investigation).

By the way, my TU report is my worst report as I've had zero success getting anything removed in the past..........maybe my luck will change?

P.S. in my dispute letters, I did request they submit an investigation procedure. But what's odd is I've done this in the past, and NEVER received that procedure letter.

I think you just answered your own question. Per the FCRA, they must send you the requested procedural description within 15 days of receiving it.

I received the same letter a couple of days ago. I disputed online at the beginning of the month. I did not ask them for a procedural request. I did my wife's at the same time and she did not receive this letter? Should I call them to make sure they are investigating?

    ebizay,

I think for once, TU is actually doing what it supposed to do, and actaually following the law. I believe they are investigating your disputes, but if you want, you can still call them and double check.

I just received the same letter.

I am 99% convinced that TU never contacted any of my creditors during my first dispute, so I asked for an investigation and a procedural request (only in the event that any of the creditors should verify). All TU sent me in response was the same letter listing the contact info for all of my creditors. I assumed it was a blow-off letter where they could claim they "complied" with my procedural request. Hopefully, I was wrong.

I will also call to see if they put any of my accounts in dispute. Right now I see nothing online.

That letter is the only thing you will ever get from TU in response to a procedure request.

I've asked for specific procedure request and they send me the address for every company listed on my report. by the way, some of the addresses were incorrect.....

If you believe a CREDIT REPAIR COMPANY over charged you for services please let us know.

    IS THIS STATEMENT ILLEGAL???

Even if it is "LEGAL"...it is in POOR TASTE!!!

If I was overcharged by a credit repair co. why would I tell TU? Are they going to get my money back for me? NO.

I got this same letter. Would I be doing the right thing by simply ignoring it and when 30 days has laspsed, send another letter for them to remove the information they were not able to confirm?? Thanks

i just got a similar letter from TU. However, they incorrectly say that they BELIEVE i am using a credit repair co. here's the worrisom part on my letter that's different:

According to the FTC, CRA's are not required to process disputes submitted by thrid parties. In addition, our experience shows that many credit repair co's dispute accurate information or submit irrelevant disputes. We have reasonably determined that the dispute submitted on your behalf is frivolous or irrelevant. For these reasons, we will not take action on the dispute.

that's insane. it's my signature, sent from my post office down the street, w/ my handwriting on the certified mail receipt and return receipt. do you guys think they're still going to investigate this despite flat out telling me in the letter that they will not dipute it?
