Wrap your minds around this one..

Several years ago, unknown to me, My mother decided to use my name and ss# to open a phone account in her name. She then proceded to run up a 900 phone bill and not pay it. I discovered this last year and I disputed it with oc. They told me I needed to file a police report. However, seeing as how I don't want to put my own mother in jail, I can't do this. However the oc tradeline was disputed and removed from my credit.

But here's the catch. The account was passed to a ca, which is still on my credit somehow. I already explained the situation to them and they refuse to remove it from my credit. Any suggestions on how to remove it?

unfortunately by not filing a police report you are assuming liability for the debt. i understand this is your mom, but it is also fraud. you have three choices:

    1. file the police report. if mom did it once, she may do it again.

    2. pay the bill in exchange for delete

    or the best option IMO:

    3. dear MOM pays the bill SHE incurred in exchange for it being removed from your credit report.
