   I currently have 6 student loans. I can consolidate them to 2. How does this affect my credit rating?
   
   Citibank says they fully payoff the 6 and open 2 new ones.

   I have consolidated a couple times and I have seen an appreciable effect on my scores. I think it does not change because they close the old accounts to make a newer larger account with the same amount of total liabilities, so really nothing changes.
