I have student loan for $2900 on my report, it has a 90-day late from 12-2000. I called and tried to get them to remove it with a verbal goodwill 'letter', spoke with a rep and a supervisor. Supervisor told me they had to report it to the govt accurately...and I said, 'but the CRA isn't the gov't'. Then he repeated himself and said there is no way we can remove it. I asked for someone even higher up, he said they will call me. Any other tactic or way to get this removed. I explained to him that I didn't realize the loan wasn't in forbearance, and when I did file a forbearance, it was retroactive. He said the retroactive part is only on there end, and they they still have to report is was late back then.
I had the same situation w/ my student loans. showed 3 - 90 day lates, 2 - 60 on all 3 reports. I mailed the CRAs a copy of the letter sent to me by the student loan guys that showed when it was in forbearance. EQ and EX deleted the entire tradeline and TU updated it as never late. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Hmmm...then I will ask for a letter stating it was in forbearance at the time, maybe that will be enough. Thanks
I have a letter stating the dates of the forbearance. I was thinking of sending it in to the CRA's too. Did you mail, or fax it?? I didn't think that would work!
Hi tracyb0313 I mailed a copy of the exact statements you are talking about. They showed the forebearance period and stated that the account is up to date. The lates listed on the CR were between the dates listed as in forebearance. TU updated the tradeline within a week as never late. EX and EQ both deleted the entire tradeline during the fourth week. I had also called the student loan lender to see if they will take the lates off prior to mailing these statements. Of course they said no. I was given the example of "If you total a car, it's totalled," I'm not sure why she gave me this reason. Proved her wrong. Anyway, hope this helps.
