Maybe Marie or the other M* can help me figure out what the hell is going on here. I am currently looking into consolidating my perfect SL's to a Sallie Mae SL. SO I went to the Direct Loan Servicing site to check on the payoff amounts and there was an option to look at the . So I did. I came up with some pretty interesting stuff. Not only did I attend Bowling Green State University, but I did it when I was still in High School. AND I also attended University of Toledo and California State University - Sacramento. ALL when I was still in high school. These are Perkins Loans and FFEL Loans (whatever they are). They amount to $11847 owed out of $19228 Borrowed. Now, these loans are not reported on my CR, but what happens if they pop up? I mean, where the hell did they come from? What do I do about this?
Call who? Bowling Green, University of Toledo, Cal State, NSLDS, Direct Loans Servicer? All of the above?
Well great. I just looked up myself out of curiosity. Now I have another call to make tomorrow too. Seems Sallie Mae is full of a bunch of morons. I consolidated my loans several years ago and yet they list 2 as in repayment with 1 dollar left to go and 2 are listed as in repayment with the full amounts left to go. Now my direct loans that were consolidated list pn (paid) with all 0 balances. I have learned to loathe Sallie Mae for many reasons. This is just another one. Who's the student loan expert here again?
Someone else with an M name. Roni too. Hope they look here! ***EDIT*** MOZILLA is the Student Loan expert. I just remembered the name and knew it rhymed with Godzilla. LOL
Mozilla is the guy that won that lawsuit. Here's the link to the thread. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=119785#post119785 Mozilla, if you are around...Please help us!!!!
LOL, it still shows up on some of those sites that tell you what browser you're using. I'm amusing myself by hijacking threads, and seeing how far off-topic I can take them. <EG>
Darnnit!!! That's the second time today that one of my threads has been hijacked!! Are you and dave in cahoots to bring me down?
I would think as long as they are in the database they stand a chance of popping up, even if you dispute them with a CRA and they come off . Search for "student loan", there was a recent thread concerning this. I believe the database people don't fix anything, you have to go to whoever claims you have a loan with them, then they will send information to update the database. I would call and request copies of all your promissary notes on yours loans and specifically the ones in question. If any aren't yours, they shouldn't have your signature. This would be your first step to proving they aren't yours.
Call 1 800 4FEDAID. They can tell you what the state of your student loans. If they tell you that they are not right, you should then call the student loan ombudsman office for assistance. They can be reached at 1 877 557 2575.
