I'm currently in the rehab for a defaulted student loan. My question is this: the loan was originally with Fleet Bank of Massachusetts but it defaulted & they sold the account to American Student Assistance. Both companies show negative information on my credit report. After my 12th consecutive payment, I've been told that all the negative info. will be removed. Will this happen for both accounts?
steph, The Fleet entry is supposed to be deleted along with the ASA entry, but you will probably have to fight to make it happen. Do a keyword search on this board for "pamela moran" and "marci" and you'll find some contact info I provided dealing with this issue. Also, below is a thread Molly and I participated on: http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...&threadid=8569&highlight=molly+rehabilitation
Steff45 I can share my experience with you. I am in rehab with my student loans (5 more months to go). I had my original loans with Suntrust Bank. They were paid off by the government when I defaulted. So last month I disputed them with the CRAs. They were deleted from all 3. I figure they got their money and cleared my name from their files. Maybe this helps....good luck.
