Pulled Equifax today and my student loan is reporting past due. Payment was made on time, I have all records to prove it. I called the phone number provided on the credit report (I taped the call) to inquire why, the automated system confirmed that the payment was made on time and the next payment was not due until next month. Transfered to a live person, (still taping), explained situation to the person. He said thier system is a bit screwed up but it shows paid on time, he dosen't know why it reported to Equifax as late. I ask them to fix it, he tells me it should automatically fix next month. He asked if I was applying for credit, I said yes that is why I need it fixed now. He tells me to contact Equifax and dispute it through them, then they should update it and fix the problem.???????? I'm thinking this has to be wrong but I'm not positive where to go from here. I could just dispute through Equifax but I don't think I should have to. I contacted the funisher of information and reported the problem, Aren't they required to do something about it? What should I do now?
