    Hi.. I need some advise.
    I had my student loan defered because I'm in school. I got the deferment approved, and then all of a sudden, I started getting bills. I didn't think much of it because I had the papers saying I had it defered.

    It turns out that the bank had done a little investigation, and decided I wasn't taking enough credits this quater to qualify for the deferment, so they went ahead and started billing me. Now my credit report is showing me as being a couple of months late :(

    Anyone know what I might be able to do about this.. if anything? Please help

    How many credits were you taking, and are you grad or undergrad? just curious.

    I would talk to the lender and see if they could put in a forebearance to bring you up to date.

    here is the response that I gave to your other post concerning the same topic;

    You need to check with the school you are attending to see if you meet their qualifications for in school status. Normally if you are taking at least 6 hrs per semester for undergraduate or 3 hrs per semester for graduate then you will qualify for an inschool deferment. It is supposed to be the school, not the servicer, that makes the determination as to whether or not you qualify. The other possibility is that you are not taking classes during the summer and your student deferment expired in May or June when classes ended. If you are planning to return in August or September then contact both the school and servicer (a supervisor not whomever answers the phone when you call) and explain your situation.

    Hope this helps you.
