can i consolidate or rehabilitate my loans if i already have a wage garnishment? also if i do consolidate through dept of ed once the original lenders are paid will they remove the default status? thanks..
I'm not Roni, but the William D. Ford Foundation (or Direct Loans) will consolidate a wage garnishment, as long as you have made 3 payments. The consolidation will not remove it from the credit report (it'll be a paid collection). I don't know if you can qualify for rehabilitaion since that means pulling it out of wage garnishment, which is a very hard thing to do.
Yes you can consolidate. The dept of ed will take the loan no matter what. Only consolidate thru them. OR call your original creditor and set up a rehabilitation program. If they accept it you are cool. You really just have to ask the original creditor if they will do it. Sorry I can't tell you more. It is really up to each creditor how much trouble or how helpful they want to be. Good Luck. roni
