I have been told that lending institutions are more lienient about qualifying for student loans. Is this true. I currently have a few negative tradelines on my CRs I am currently working on getting these removed or at least switched to a "paid" status. How heavily do these count against someone for a student loan?

    thanks for your help.

Credit has no bearing on qualifying for Stafford Loans (The name of the Federally Guaranteed Student Loan Program). Private student loans on the other hand are heavily based on credit.

    Hope this helps.
