    1) Inital Validation letter is sent to CA.

    Then...
    2) The CA should put "in dispute" on CR until the item is validated.
    3) If can't validate, they should remove. Period.

    or

    2) CA ignores me. I send a 30 day validation letter.
    3) CA continues to ignore me. I send a 60 validation letter.
    4) CA ignores the 60 day letter. I then demand deletion through CRA based on the proof that I have that the CA ignored my requests for validation.

Just want to make sure I am following all of the necessary steps.

In my case, I sent a validation letter to a CA that was reporting to the cras but before that I mailed the letter I disputed the collection because they were only reporting to 2 cra's. This way they could not report to the 3rd one while validation was going on.
The outcome was that the did not validate or even reply in any way and at the same time because of my dispute at the CRAs the collection was deleted.
Some people are not so lucky maybe they'l tell you their stories.

You say "CA ignores me." What did you send that they ignored? What triggers your sending the 30 day validation letter?
Ok. But suppose they didn't ignore you but rather sent you a full and complete accounting of each and every item on your account since it's inception. What would you do then?[/quote]
What proof would you have that they did ignore your requests for validation? How would you prove the negative? Under all normal situations proving a negative is an impossibility unless you have some method to trap the event having not occurred. You can state that it didn't happen but all that will happen is that the CRA will check with the collector who will probably report that all the information is correct and you just wasted all your time effort and postage.
Thats always an adviseable thing to do.
