I routinely get telephone calls for the previous owner of my telephone number and one is of particular interest. It seems the previous owner of the number, some woman named Jolene, had a CA hounding her called Thomas and Kobl. I get home from work each day and I always have 6 - 8 calls on my caller ID from these Communists but never a message. At first, I would answer at night and they would ask for Jolene. I would explain its a wrong number. They wouldn't believe me and would call again. Now, they are coming up with excuses when I answer. First it was: "Tell Jolene that we have a pre-approved MasterCard for her with a 5000 dollar CL." Of course, it was showing Thomas and Kobl on the ID. Tonight was: "Tell Jolene she has won an all expense paid vacation to Hawaii". T & K again. I calmly explained that there was no Jolene and what they did was illegal...if they were my creditor I would go after them.
a few years ago I had something like that with a pre approved CC. it was indorsed by Ed McMann. But it was a CA just wanting to give me credit on a Debt that I already had. and to top it off the CC was paid in full, but was the debt was sold. The orginal CC was paid in full and had sold the account as unpaid.
Poor Jolene...no wonder she changed her number. I'd play along. Next time tell them that you regret to inform them that she passed away or she's on permanent vaction in Aruba after winning millions in the lottery. Jolene will thank ya for it.
Oh my gosh, that is too funny!!! I have that same name all over my caller ID. Apparently they call when I am at work and never leave a message. A couple of times I got a "phantom" call from them that was just dead air then hung up. This is a new number (2nd number) for me and nobody at all has it so I know if is not for me. I would love to have some fun with this.
Yes, Maer, we need to do something!! That is exactly what they do to me. No matter what I tell these weasels, they still keep calling. I come home and they will have called 8 - 9 times. I need to find their address so I can write them with the nutcase letter.
Put a message from Jolene on your answering machine, LOL. Tell your friends what is going on, so they "get it" if they call and hear something from Jolene. Seriously, here, our phone company (now Verizon, used to be Bell Atlantic) has a 2 digit number you can dial after receiving a harrassing phone call. It alerts the phone company to the fact that someone at the calling number is harrassing you, and files a complaint. Perhaps your phone company has something similar.
