I would like to post and paste some of the more stupid comments that can be found on the msn money board. Sometimes I do not know if I should be pissed, laugh, or cry.

Ok, I just thought of this great idea. I see that over 1 million of us responsible Americans claim BK every year. First off I don't understand how one can basicallly steal from the CC companies and get away with it. Hell, if walk into a bank with a gun and wanted 30 k I bet I'd be arrested !!

But there is a new way to steal, just rack up your CC and cry about your problems (wife, kid, husband, ect..)

I say this, from here on out, anyone who claims BK should be obligated to either :

    1. Join the armed services for 2 years, if you cannot do such a thing because of your kids, then your kids should be obligated to join when they turn 18.

    2. Any/all assets will be repossesed upon your death, you don't get leave it to anyone.

    3. Whatever debt cannot be paid back must be paid back by your kids

Its just a thought, ahh hell, just keep running them bills up baby........
    --------------------------------------------
I believe enlistment in the armed services should be prerequisite for the right to vote
    -----------------------------------------------------
How about this. The dollar amount of the debts cleared by your bankruptcy is deducted from your future social security benefits. This way we all get the money back, because less government money is spent on BK filers.
    -------------------------------------------------------
    1. Join the armed services for 2 years

Umm, do we really want people who can't even manage their money to be playing soldier?

I see that over 1 million of us responsible Americans claim BK every year

Maybe that's what you see, but *I* see that over 1 million of us irresponsible Americans claim BK every year. If they were truly responsible, they wouldn't need to file bankruptcy.

i went to creditnet too just to see what all the talk was about....found a few pieces of valid info but basically the boards seemed to be about people scamming their ways out of negative stuff on their credit reports.
    ----------------------------------------------------
I too had checked out creditnet back when Shot originally posted. I agree with Isabel that most were just scammers or outright lowlifes. Not wanting to take responsibility for their actions or inactions. They are willing to work real hard and spend thousands of dollars on lawyers to get out of paying a $100 debt. Not too bright
    ------------------------------------------------------
well, old Marc isn't TOO humble, is he? He's given himself a rather odd name for someone who calls other posters idiots and is in the mood to "bust trolls

If you want to get to know some of the people here is a summation.

shotcaller 'the private lender' appears to run one of those payday places that rip people off. no matter what a CA does he says you should just pay them. He believes a CA has the right to do as he or she pleases. Shot also likes to show up at peoples houses and is a collector himself.

nervous1- I respect him as a person(silly me it seems) but everything he posts is misinformation and I have come to the conclusion that he does not know what the hell he is talking about.

mycroft- as seen over here. His heart is in the right place but the wool has been pulled over his eyes. He does not understand the crap that goes on with the CAs and CRAs.

jnh1star- has just posted the most idiotic thing I have even seen. He makes everyone else there seem like a genius.

hurley451- another moron. clearly goes there to make himself feel better by putting others down.

    YOU ARE SOOOOO RIGHT!!!!
After paying off most of my debts, I'm working on paying off the last big one...a $1,700 balance from Best Buy...The collection agency said they would close it for only 1,000. Now, I didn't do it yet because I''m thinking it will show up on my credit report as a charge off/settlement...however, I would be saving $700..anyway, just curious the reprocutions of settling for less? Will it stay on my report for longer than 7 years?

No, it'll stay with you for 7 years, no longer. However, the negative impact on your credit score is pretty high considering you're talking about only $700. It would be a shame if you ended up having to trash your credit for just this last debt.

By the way, often when a debt is settled, you will end up owing taxes on the forgiven amount (so they will file with the IRS that you will owe tax on $700).

So, in my opinion, it's just not worth it to save just $700.

    As reported by nervous

her credit is going to be trashed regardless of how much she settles for!!

He's nervous because he's an idiot. A credit score is going to suffer whether the acct is pd in full, settled for less than full amount or left unpaid. A collection is a collection is a collection. What friggin B.S.

Edited for brevity, here is a typical question from MSN:

    "
one of their agents has been calling me everyday. She will call my cell phone about 3 times a ...

I said no, but I was finally working full time and could set up payments. She refused this and said she'd see me in court and laughed and hung up.

I talked to an attorney today, and he told me to tell her not to call me at work and only communicate in writing. So I called and requested this. She told me that she would call me, at work everyday, every 5 minutes if she wanted. She then proceeded to tell me that "you couldn't afford an attorney....what do you work at McDonald's or something? And why is your cell phone off...can't pay that bill either? I'll just go ahead and garnish %25 of your wages"

. She then called my work 8 times after that harrasing me and my co-worker! Asking like "oh what kind of business is this...and do you throw birthday parties there?"

Anyways, I just couldn't believe the harrasment I recieved from this woman! Has this happened to anyone else ever? What are the exact laws protecting debtors from creditor harrasment?
    "

    >>And check out the answer this poster gets<<

You need to determine how to pay your bill and not worry about the collection calls. If you paid your bill they wouldn't have to call at all. Collection calls are never
directed toward current accounts. Evidently you said something to make the collector unhappy and I am sure they would love it if you "PAID YOUR BILL."
Now do the right thing and set up some payment arrangements that will benefit you
as well as the collection company. Ante up baby!

    >>
Notice how the collector's many violations of Federal law are ignored, the debtor, who has attempted payment arrangements is the only one at fault?

    Sheesh. that board is nuts.

    More MSN words of wisdom:

"When a payment is made on an account that has been a charge off or no payment made, the date starts from the day you paid. It will reflect this..

Say if you had a bill in 2000, didn't pay it and just let it sit there. In 2007 it should be deleted or fall off as some believe. Now, if you made a payment in 2004, the item gets updated and will sit on your report until 2011. "

Hehehe....I fell bad for the masses over there, reading and blindly nodding their heads in agreement. Its like "Helpful Credit advice from
    Camco"
    Reaging? Hello?

well, as most of you know I get around to just about every message board there is out there and MSN is no exception. I've been monitoring that board for quite a while but I never post over there.

The reason is that I've never seen any comments or posts on it even worth registering to answer.

If one looks at those posts over there they aren't really about problems and how to fix them but rather about judging others.

Its basically the same theme on most of the religious message boards. If you want to see the epitome of that then there is one message board out there run by a guy who has a collection agency and posts on some of the collection agency hangouts and on his message board he claims to be a minister. Reverend Somethingorother he calls himself yet and the board is mostly made up of women who are deep into the guilt trip about their debt problems.

Ole Rev keeps telling them how many points they will gain in Heaven by paying their bills and those who first
come on his "great" board are given the guilt trip big time. Its both sad and a real hoot at the same time.

exactly bill. they get maybe 1-2 new posts a day if that. The rest are people bashing each other or discussing the most ludicrous ideas I have ever see. I will never respect that board again after I saw some poor woman go there for advice. She had been frequently beat up by her husband and finally left him. He did not pay child support and ran up the bills and she was being harrassed by the CAs. Their advice went something like 1)pay your bills you deadbeat and 2)you should never have left your husband you scum until you can learn to handle your bills. I was appalled at the sheer level of abuse. One of these days when I have time I will have to find that link.

Well, as most message boards do we have had our share of such judgmental posters as well. Thankfully they have been put in their place rather quickly.

Then they either leave and go back to where they came from and stay there or they learn to at least tone it down to more acceptable levels.

    whichever.
