The other day I got a voicemail saying call 770-953-xxxx or 1-800-xxx-xxxx (don't remember the numbers) and ask for Mrs Jones. I know a CA call when I hear one and knew that it was not for me. Just for fun I called from my cell phone yesterday. CA: Business office? ME: Yes, I got a message on my answering machine. CA: Was it from Mrs Jones? ME: Yes CA: Uhh, I can't find you in my records. NITWIT! He was depending on his dandy-wandy caller ID to tell him who I was without asking who I was. But of course cell phone numbers reveal nothing... ME: What is the name of your company? CA: United Credit Services ME: Oh, Ok. I do not have an account with you. You must have the wrong number. Goodbye! Here's another chuckle-upper: Another CA, maybe telemarketer, called my house, asking for someone I did not recognize and of course does not live there. ME: You have the wrong number CA: I'll try back later ME: Uhh, you have the wrong number. CA: Sorry ma'am. We wont disturb you again. CLICKUP!
Not sure if the CAs have this type of technology. My pager has caller ID on it. So one day I called my pager via my cell phone and punched in 555-1212, well my pager went off and the 555-1212 appeared along with my cell phone#. I have caller ID block on my cell phone and my pager # is a 800 number. Best regards, Mirage
Apparently he thought I was calling from home and that he could input that number and pull up an account.
My cell # always shows up on caller ID. My home number never does because it's private/unlisted. My work number now shows up on caller ID we added a chip or two to the phone system at work no wwe also have incomming caller iD as well. Except for those people who run off a large PBX system that doesn't provide their outgoing call info. EdG
I think it has more to do with my pager company's ability to read the phone# even tho the number is caller ID blocked. Best regrds, Mirage
When my husband and I took over the phone number that his family used to have it was in the name of a man who has been dead for 25 years. When I called to tell them to change the name that the bill was sent to, they told me that he would have to come sign the papers. I told them that was quite impossible because he had was dead and had been so for 25 years, and the reaction of the guy handling the account was hilarious He couldn't change the name quick enough. We decided to leave the name listed under the old name to throw off telemarketers, and it is pretty funny when they call and ask for him and I say well sorry but he's dead. They aren't prepared for this and usually the hastily hang up.
