I am ticked! Back in August my DH had a tooth pulled. We had 2 different insurances but Dentist only sent claim to one. They paid all but $49.00. After much nagging, Dentist finally submitted balance of claim to 2nd insurance in December. 2nd insurance notified Dentist in January that they didn't submit it properly and were denying claim at that time. 2nd insurance letter to dentist states to refile claim showing how much 1st insurance paid for proper review. Dentist NEVER resubmitted claim but sent the $49.00 balance bill to a CA! I called today and reamed them out (the woman was nasty). Now what do I do?!
I had a dentist do that to me. It took me 2 days to send them packing. First go read this site. http://www.ada.org/prof/prac/law/code/eth-prac.html http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/fcb.htm Get your dispute out to the CA. Get the insurance people to put something in writing that the dentist did not bill them in a timely matter. Create a paper trail. then nail em. If you are in a 1 party consent state tape the dentist office.
You can send the EOB from the primary insurance to the secondary insurance for payment. It does not have to come from the Dentist's office. That might get the payment issue settled. Then complain to the ADA, state and local association(s). What they did was wrong. NV Bone Doc True health comes from within
Or, you could CALMLY go down to the dentist's office and ask to speak to the office manager. Explain the situation and ask them to correct the problem, including notifying the collection agency to immediately stop collection actions. You know, you'll catch a lot more flies with honey than vinegar.... Take a deep breath and realize that it isn't the "stupid dentist" who is to blame. Remember, he's the one who made the toothache go away. He wasn't so "stupid" then, was he?
thank you idiot troll for your defense of the dentist who failed to file the insurance claims on time, failed to notify the consumer, sent it to a CA to ruin this person's credit, and then treated them rudely. How about you climb back under that rock you crawled out of or the msn money board. Same thing and I am sure you came from there too.
My dentist is not stupid so much as he is GREEDY. Had a cavity fall out on my back molar and he wanted to charge me $1k for a gold crown. He kept pushing THIS DARN CROWN!!! I told him I would take the porcelain fused to 30% gold, which was $650. Both of these prices are outrageous considering I have insurance. I complained to the officer manager that 1k was too much for a crown, especially since I had insurance. I wanted the ovrepriced $650 crown. Well, like a car dealer, the officer manager asked if he could get "his boss" to knock the price down would I take it??? I was tired, beaten down with the hard sale tactics at my dentist , and on nitrous oxide(I'm such a baby), so I eventually agreed to pay $850 for the crown, just to get out of there! I should have know I was in trouble when the paperwork asked: "who is responsible for your dental investment?"
Look at your post...so much hate. Why? Think about it. The dentist didn't fill out the form (or fail to fill them out). The dentist fixed the tooth. The office staff or the insurance company failed to fix the problem. The dentist had nothing to do with it. Understand? Unlike your post, my post offered a suggestion to help the original poster. What did you bring to the table? Seems that you are the "troll."
you caught me 'too much'. I admit it. I am a troll. For nearly a year I have been tricking all of you into thinking I actually cared. My masterplan was nearly complete until our new superhero 'too much' came along. Obviously this dentist, who is probably also the owner of the clinic, would never stoop to actually run his own shop or take part of lowly office work.
cind.......yep, those crowns are ridiculous. just hope you don't need a root canal as well. a dentist i used 4 yrs ago billed my ins. one time for flouride, i don't like flouride, i refused it, and when i got my statement of services paid, the flouride treatment was on there. i told them to reverse it and they did. whoever did the billing is a lazy cow. i mean how long does it take to do a billing? how long does it take to have a former patient? the most recent dentist i visited didn't call to verify if i was due for an fmx, so guess who had to pay $90 for xrays? yep, and i am also going to see a new dentist for my next cleaning.
Re: Re: Stupid Dentist! Why should the dentist do those things? They went to school to fix teeth...not to file insurance claims. That's what they pay the office staff to do.
That is what the lady who took my X-rays said, the office mangager, the dentist and the hygenist. THEY ALL recommended the $1k crown, I didn't think they were going to let me leave that office without the $1k crown. Last year, I paid $700 WITH NO INSURNANCE for an all gold crown. I ** think** my dentist has an interest in the company who makes these crowns. BTW, too much, are you in somehow employed in the dentistry field? You seem somewhat biased.
Well notsaint, I just gave me greedy dentist the boot. I switched over to Pacificare that will give me a porcelain crown fuse to gold for $340 and a $100 root canal for anterior and $175 for molars. Not bad huh?
Re: Re: Stupid Dentist! No, not employed in the field. I'm just a believer that there are some things you shouldn't try to cut corners on in life. If you were to lose a tooth later in life because of an inferior crown or filling, the extra few hunderd $$ will have seemed like small change, and you'll wish you'd have spent it. I know several dentists. Their job isn't an easy one. No one's ever happy to see them, and they really don't make as much as you'd think they do. The overhead is huge in a dental office.
I'm sorry...this is such a serious thread (and I have run into problems with dentists who didn't submit paperwork before). But I'm sitting here almost in tears thinking about a cavity falling out of someone's tooth. Kinda like those "portable holes" from the old Roadrunner cartoons, no? If everyone's cavities were to fall out, dentists everywhere would go out of business. Now -- after all of that, I know what you meant... no flames please.

That's what they pay the office staff to do. Too much ================== Well then they better see that they get what they pay for if they want to keep their A-- out of the hot sauce. The END ************************* LB 59
