In December I got a Kays account and charged a small amount onto it. On Thursday of last week, I went to Kays and got my daughter a small piece of jewelry. On Friday, DW sent me back to exchange it for something else.

This morning, I look on PG, and there are 2 hard inquiries from Sterling (Kays) on TU for Thursday and Friday. I cannot believe that they did any hard pulls, much less 2 hard pulls. I was originally given a credit line of $4k, of which I had used $500 which was almost paid off. The item I purchased was inexpensinve (<$250), and the item I exchanged it for was actually about $30 bucks less.

Has anyone had this happen with Kays? Has anyone been successful having them remove a hard pull?

That is a good thing to know about. Looks like Christmas will be the only time I use that card.

Yeah, I'm gonna call tomorrow after I get the account info and number from home. Usually they have been very friendly when I have spoken with them, so hopefully they will be helpful here. Doesn't make any sense, especially the hard pull for an exchange for an item that costs less!

I called and they said that it was on the contract that they would check credit on each purchase. I don't think they are consistent with that, because I remember that I had bought a $100 bracelet about a week after I had made my initial purchase on the account, and there was no pull at that time.

The lady basically said, thats what they do, sorry. She said that the exchange transaction showed as a return and a new purchase, so thats why the second pull was on there.

Have any of you seen these types of pulls from Kays?

Yeah Nana, I did. I take it that you didn't get my reply? Last week I was away from the puter for a few days taking my son back to SC to fight a felony charge. (They dismissed it!!! WooHoo!) I responded to emails when I got back.

I'm having a hard time believing these OC's bull$hi7 excuses for pulling hard. They all know it can tank your score and they keep doing it.

They did the same thing to me. I called & they gave me a line they can pull it anytime. I remember the sale lady wanted me to buy, so she called the credit center to see what I had open to buy so that's when they pulled a hard. Two weeks later I went into jared's to make a payment & one was pull again.

Cl was 5000 they drop it to 2000 because I had got behind on the mortgage. I believe it come from the greedy sale rep.

Wait and see what happens to scores when all the othe credit card companies start pulling reports every time you use your credit card.
    Talk about tanking your credit.
