Hello all, Well, for those of you who have been here a while, you might remember the times when every other post was Capital One sucks. Of course there was also the ever popular Crap One reference. However, I have not noticed the same call to bring down the man named Capital One. Recently I received a musicians gold mastercard application. I already have a gold card. I figured what the heck. It was preapproved. The least that could happen is that I could combine it with my existing card in 3 months. Well, today it came in the mail. No, no, I did not receive the infamous $200 limit. I was fortunate enough to receive the still popular $500 limit. Yes, I admit it. I thought that since I already have a 3K card, that perhaps I would get some respect this time around. Well I guess I did. My previous other cards were all with a initial limit of $200. I planetfeedback and complained enough to reach my limit now. So, I guess it starts all over again. Mr. Miller, here I come. Mike G.
Well, since they gave me the $1,000 automatic increase this month, they stay alive for a while, but after that $200 card, I will never take another offer, not even their recent "platinum" minimum $500, maximum $7,500. Yeah right. Go ahead, say it. $500. And what good is the extra $1,000, really? I don't intend to use it, and it can't improve my ratio without going to a lot of trouble, cause they won't report it. blecchhh.
success reporting limits? I remember reading some have had success with getting limits reported by faxing and mailing statements. I may give it a try. Mike G.
Re: success reporting limits? Another method, as long as you have the funds available, would be to max out your card, then pay it down as low as you can. That way, under high bal./ cr line it'll list the amount you maxed out to (your cr limit) and under bal, it'll list whatever your bal was when the cycle turned over. Just be sure to max out and pay off before the cycle turns over.
Re: success reporting limits? I really don't like Cap One. At one time I held 4 cards from them, with the highest limit being $1400. After 2 years charging $1000 per month on the card and paying in full, they offered me a $100 increase. The only reason I'd kept them was for the history, but this was the last straw. I closed all 4, even after they offered to lower my rate and double the $1400 limit. It wasn't the money, it was the principle. I now use my AMEX Blue exclusively, much like I used to do with Cap One. To this day, I still don't like em and wouldn't recommend them. Just my 2 cents. JP
