Preparing papers to serve equifax. Someone tell me again whether I should serve equifax corporate, or should I sue the local affiliate. equifax corporate would be much more convenient, as I would be able to file in my own county....Im under the impression that If I were to file against the local affiliate, I would have to serve the owner of the business in their own county. Is this correct?

I've always heard when you file papers against anybody, you do it in your own county, i.e. the home court advantage.

When American Express sued Visa/Mastercard, Amex made them appear in California, and not the East coast.

Then again, it's just my opinion. Hopefully someone can fill us in...

Well the problem is, you can't do that unless the defendant is a corporation. I'm still investigating to see if the affiliate here is indeed a corporation or not...BTW, this is Credit Bureau of Greensboro...anyone familiar w/ them?

I have two collection accounts listed on my Equifax by the Credit Bureau of Greensboro. I've sent validation letters with no response. I just sent the estoppel letter this week so I'm waiting. Would you mind sharing why you are suing? I'm interested because I may be headed there myself.

FYI, the Credit Bureau of Greater Greensboro is a subsidiary of The Greensboro Merchants Association. Accoring to their website ggma.com, the Credit Bureau is a corporation.

"In the intervening years, its name has been changed to the Greater Greensboro Merchants Association, Inc., and it has as its wholly owned subsidiary, the Credit Bureau of Greater Greensboro, Inc., which operates the Credit Bureau Reporting Division and the Collection Service Division of the Bureau. The Board of Directors of the Association is the governing body for both corporations."

Why? 12 violations of the FCRA, and their "validation" is a joke. I'm sick of it.
