I have a Direct Merchants charge off. This TL NEVER appeared on my credit reports until AFTER they sold it to a scumbag CA. (It was originally opened in 1996, DOLA 4/2002). It was originally reporting with a balance, and "cannot locate individual" notation. I disputed it as not mine with all 3. TU has updated it to payment after chargeoff/collections, paid profit and loss. EQ is showing it has sold or transferred -0- balance, and EX is dragging their feet as usual. Sometime between sending the dispute, and them receiving it DMB updated it to "recently located" balance n/a. I just received the first notice from CA, and have sent them a request for validation. Nothing yet. Should I nutcase these guys as a paid chargeoff? Sit out the validation with the CA (not reporting), or what? I don't want to shoot myself in the foot here.
So you are saying the OC account never appeared at all, and now the OC account appears along with the collection tradeline, or is it just the CA account appearing on your reports?
Its just the OC TL reporting. For the first time ever, after it was sold to CCA. (I have the letter from Curtis O. Barnes saying it was sold, and old and new reports to show it was never reported until after they no longer had any interest in the account).
Now here's a funny thought. How bout I write the CA collecting for the purchasing CA a copy of my TU report, and ask them how they are attempting to collect on a debt that the OC is reporting as paid after charge off? Ok, still looking for serious suggestions.
I with Jlynn: Have a similiar situation! I would like to hear suggestions. I have disputed with CRA, validated with OC and CA; waiting on response.
