I have a very minute ca acct racking my brain right now. I sent the ca a validation letter on 4/18 crrr, green card signed 4/25, disputed the ca on eq on 5/8, 5/14 ca acct is deleted from eq. I received validation in the form of a statement from OC. The DOLA on this acct is 4/98. I really want to make sure the ca doesn't decide to report again...the OC's csr manager sent me her business card and I have been sitting here staring at it all afternoon...do I call, email, ignore???? SOL is up...ahhh and almost forgot...this CA acct was on dh's report, the acct was in his name, yet typewritten at the bottom of my validation printout it states "XXX Utilities this account was established by Mrs. kelcol"

    Suggestions??

You did not ask them to verify. You asked them to validate. That is you want copies of original statements, etc. justifying the claim.

How much is it? Since it is a utility, maybe its small enough to pay after receiving a written agreement they won't re-report? Might be easier in the long run?

Your still out of the country, so whats the sol for military?

Ya mean there is another SOL out there I have to worry about??

It is a really small amount 38 bux I think and I have no problem paying it...who do I negotiate w/? The OC or CA? The statement came from the OC and the CA deleted....I started an email to the csr lady at the OC but I'm not sure whether I should play dumb or legal-like...

I dunno. I was curious since you are out of the country, what state's SOL are you held to. Probably a WhyChat question.

Play legal like. This is not full validation, and you still do not recall that YOU ever had an account with them, but with it being such a small amount you are willing to pay it and go on down the road, IF you get an agreement in writing that it will never show up on yours or your spouses credit report from the CA or the OC.

You could spend 38 dollars quick in CMRRR arguing this between them and the CRAs.

Now, this is just my .02 cents.

Thanks Jlynn Ya know, I asked the SOL question months ago, on one of the boards, and I believe someone told me the state in which the debt occured to I have kinda ran w/ that....

With all the deletions I have had this is my first time going the validation route and I think I kinda got lazy - it was going a little too good.

Ok - I emailed the lady. Short and to the point, no admission of the debt and asked: how can we resolve this w/out it reappearing on dh's credit report.

Her answer was equally short: Ms x,

I have already contacted "said ca", this bill has been cancelled from Mr x's credit report..

??????? No mention of payment or anything....what does this mean? Can't be that easy can it?

Yes it certainly can. Print out the email including header and keep it as documentation. Congrats!
