    Heres the story:

As a landlord, Peoples energy setup billing info for an apartment unit I own and directed bills to the wrong address.

They sent bills for several months to the wrong address.

They then called me to ask for payment and I did so stating that they would not mark me 30 days late and correct the address info.

I then got a 30 day late mark. They also changed the address to the correct address and once i paid the bill their computers reverted to the old address

Additionally, this electronically forces the wrong home address on my credit report

They also forced me into a deposit and when the aco**** was closed transferred the remaining of the deposit balance to a different account I have with them. This is definately outside of the energy biling regulations in illinois.

I have sent 5 letters CRRR and fax to peoples energy over the last two months. I have gotten respones ranging from either no reply at all to sending me a copy of all my past bills in an envelope with no letter.

The cat and mouse game has went on far too long. I am ready to begin proceedings and serve papers but am wondering, should I use pro se or small claims court ?

Additionally what should I file my case as and should I ask for money.

All I really want now is the 30 day late off and my address corrected permanantly.

Any advise would be greatful !

Have you filed complaints with whatever state agency or public utilities commission regulates them in Illinois?

Have you tries complaints to local TV or newspaper consumer reporters?

    This is a great idea!!

A woman in our town purchased jewelry at a store that had a no return policy.
Her ring was damaged, they didn't wanna work with her, so she went to our local TV station (they are MESSY, and always lookin for messy news), and the jewelry store owners were so embarrased at lookin like heels, that they gave her back her money, AND a gift certificate for a percentage off her next purchase.

Hm, if she was smart - she shouldn't go back ;)

Anyhoo - I hope ya get this situation resolved :)

When the law, and common sense are weak, embarassment is sometimes your most powerful tool.
