I decided to call Cap One's automated system to see what they had in store for my account regarding a limit increase. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a $1,000 increase. It is still my lowest limit @ $3,000, but it is a far cry from the $200 I started out with 3 years ago. LOL I was never automatically given increases despite using the card a lot & making online payments several times a month. When I requested increases, it was like pulling teeth for a measley $100-$200. Since I sent a planetfeedback letter earlier this year, they have been easier to work with. I received my first $1,000 increase from them at that time. My card did carry a $59 yearly fee (yikes), but I received a credit from Mr. Miller (nice guy) after it posted to my statement and my interest rate was reduced to 13.9% (may have to talk to them soon about that). Even though I have prime cards with higher limits, I will stick with Cap One as long as they recognize my positive history with better terms & limts. That's all I ask for. I also need the account to help with my average account age since I have opened several new accounts this year and closed my 5 year old Providian. Guess I will pull the card out of the sock drawer & use it. :-D If anyone else has an account with them, it may be worth calling the automated system to see what kind of holiday gift may be awaiting you...Peace!!
Congrts, miles!! No solzy, call the number on your card listen to all the prompts. Press the one for "information about an increase in your credit line" - it will tell you if you have one. no inquiry. They review your file pretty often anyway.
Thanks all!! solzy, Breeze is right. They shouldn't pull a hard inquiry. They didn't for me. They would have to let you know if they do. Laray, maybe a Planetfeedback letter is in order? BELIEVE ME, I felt the same way you did. I couldn't get a good increase to save my life. LOL Before I found this board, I waited for almost a year and a half before asking for an increase. After obtaining other cards with higher limits, $400 was not enough. A planetfeedback letter to Mr. Miller worked wonders. **I just re-read my post. Do you think I could have used the word "account" one more time?..... That was a lame paragraph :-D
Just three times. I bet it's possible to use that word three times in one sentence and still make sense, LOLOL.
