My husband wants to switch his Sony Card to a Platium Select. I have a few questions before he does this:

    1. Will his account number change?
    2. Will he lose all the paymen history from the Sony Card?
    3. How will this change appear on his credit reports?
    4. What interest rate should he ask for?

no they #'s should not change. Thus the history should not change.

I have prime+0.9% i would ask for that since you've been such a good customer to citi.

I went from Silver AAdvantage to Platinum select and all original account info stayed with the new card.

I just switched from Gold AAdvantage to Platinum Select and the rep said to cut up the card as I will have a whole new account number. Although I had not even activated the Gold card yet that may be a reason.

It is because CitiGolds begins with the number 5410 and the Citi Plat Select,
Citi Dividend Platinum or Regular AAdvantage begins with 5424
