Taking a Creditnet Vacation

After becoming wrapped up in another thread I began here which became so controversial (which will remain unnamed, lol -- yeah, right), I've decided to take my wife's advice and take an indeterminate vacation from Creditnet. Basically, I found myself checking that other thread every hour and sometimes more than that. We psychologists would term that kind of behavior "compulsive" -- lol. In any event, that's how I spent father's day, and it's crazy behavior. (Ok, if not crazy, then perhaps unhealthy and unhelpful.)

So let me make a few things clear:

    1) This is not a "Creditnet suicide." I coined that phrase awhile back for what sometimes happened when one person would get angry with another and cry out indignantly (and perhaps with shades of Nixon when he lost the governorship of California in 1962, ahem): "So! You won't have me to kick around anymore!" The bottom line is that I fully intend to return. I enjoy this board very much.

    2) I'm only taking a break for awhile. Unfortunately, you WILL have me to kick around some more. :)

    3) Everyone here who's been around more than "14 messages since May 2002" knows my personal credit history (as troubled as it was, lol) and how grateful I am for all the help I received. I won't bother naming the names again, because I've done it so many times that I've risked embarassing and alienating the very people who helped me the most. Suffice to say, THANK YOU (yet again).

    4) I truly have tried to help others for a few reasons: (a) First, because I wanted to give something back. You sometimes feel guilty getting so much high quality help for free. This board has literally been a credit lifesaver. (b) Second, because it bolstered my self-esteem (ok, "ego" in the colloquial sense, lol) to hear somebody say, "Doc, you da man!" Seriously, I would be flat-out lying if I didn't acknowledge that the love that was returned was so addictive. Thank you to everyone who ever had a kind word for me after being helped. (c) I became attached to the nutcase and goodwill letters and to the occasional URL "tricks," lol, and always wanted to shepherd their use in the correct way, etc. I sometimes wonder if Lizardking feels the same way about the CRA small claims lawsuits that proliferated with his help, heh!

So, having said these things, I'm looking forward to taking a break. In a few weeks, we're moving from the metropolis of Knoxville, TN across our great state to Memphis, TN (which is actually closer to a real metropolis population-wise), and time spent on the net would be better spent getting organized for the big move.

As Arnold often says in the movies, "I'll be back." (But HE's not 30 pounds overweight. That's another story for another bulletin board, I guess.)

Love, and I really mean that,

    Randy

    Doc,

    Oh darn....

I'm one of those at least "14 messages since May" newbies. And I'm already going to miss you!

I wish you well - and come back soon (but not compulsively....**grin**) I'm a "doc" too - but not psychology so can't help ya with that one....

I will miss reading your posts - but will look forward to your return. By the way, I sent out some nutcase letters a couple of weeks ago - I appreciate all the time and effort you put into that. If I can get just one deletion - I will be sooooooooooo happy! Enjoy your "vacation!" :)

Have a great break. Sometimes you just have to take a breather from it all. I am very thankful for all the help you have given me. Because of you and the nutcase letter, I have seen two paid chargeoffs come off.

    THANKS!!!

Doc - Okay . . . I am sorry - I did not actually think you would for real black list me. I spoke out of turn. You have brought many things into perspective and revealed other areas that I would not have dreamt of (i.e. Doc's Tricks). I anxiously await your return from vacation. Memphis is a wonderful and beautiful place. I went there many of times when I was much younger. In the meantime, I vow to research, read and put to use every strand of advice I come across and upon your return I will give you the positive feedback of such. Good luck to you and your wife on your move.

    God speed.

    Melvina
