I just saw a presentation today for a lobbyist for the National Association of Realtors that was really interesting. It was really interesting hearing him talk about essentially how the trial lawyers essentially lobby to make sure laws are vague and liability is unlimited(obviously real estate agents want simple deals and limited liability). He also hit on the credit laws and what they are working on to beef them up. Its good to know we have a pretty powerful lobby on our side!! He said they are working to put harsher fines in the laws which will force more compliance. Hell I would think even the trial lawyers would jump on that bandwagon!! I talked to him a little afterwards and got his business card. I'm thinking that getting him on creditnet could be a boon. This site is a serious education in credit.
Yeah, thanx Slppry, I was watching Fox news tonight and they had a little diddy on how the IRS is getting ready to hire CA's to do the collecting. The IRS lawyer said; "Since there are stiff penalties for a CA breaking the law, they will be ever so careful to protect the consumers rights". LOLOL I can't wait till we can run the IRS's ass through the vaildation process.
Wow, I wonder which civil servant came up with that brainstorm of an idea? From a consumer's perspective this might be good news. We can't sue the federal government but we damned sure can sue a CA that violates the laws! Good move IRS! *LOL*
I talked with my Congressman over Labor Day and asked about this idea. He said there is no way this flies due to privacy concerns. In fact, he said some staffers working on the idea have said the FDCPA would need to be amended to exempt CA's from handling documentation. In other words, you demand validation and the CA would contact the IRS who would send out the validation.
