Has anyone else experienced this? Today I received a Target Visa with a 3000 CL. I have a Target card with a 200 CL that they have refused to increase for the past 4 or so years. Nothing has been pulled on my CR and I did not request the card. Anyone, anyone? Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to get it but why if they wouldn't increase my CL before. They do make note that this card does replace your Target store card.
It seems like they're replacing the Guest cards w/ the VISA to some extent. Their CSR said that RNB reviews the accts to determine whether to replace someone's Guest card w/ the VISA. But there are threads on here where people hold both cards so I don't know how true that is. There are also a lot of threads about getting the VISA interest rate reduced before activation which may interest you unless you were offered their lowest which I have been told is 9.9%. The Guest card is supposed to read closed per consumer on your CR.
That was my next question. What happens to the Target store card line and how do they report the Target Visa line. Do they report it as open when you opened your Target account or when it was issued. My Target store card is a great tradeline and I've had it for quite a while. Also, before activation, they lowered to 15.9. I'll try again in a few months. I really don't plan on using the card too much. Good luck to eveyone else who may get this little surprise in the mail, if you want it that is
GUEST CARD~~~ACCOUNT CLOSED BY CONSUMER. VISA OPEN...(so you get the VISA...but you lose a "store" card)
This happened to me a couple weeks ago. The Visa is already reporting. I did have a soft inquiry on experian last month. They haven't updated my guest card to closed status yet. The date opened will be reported the same date as your target guest card.
I had a Guest card for $200 CL and got denied for the Visa card. Then 2 weeks later they upped my CL on guest card to $500. Go figure.
It happened to me too! I got a target Visa Friday. I had applied for the Target Visa 7/02 and was turned down due to an unpaid chargeoff with Mervyn's. Then this card shows up in the mail. I hadn't had a credit increase since last year on my guest card. I'd call and request 1 every week and still denied. But, I did a balance transfer last month and now have a zero balance. One thing, I've noticed is you have to have a $0 balance on your guest card to be considered for a Target Visa. Or at least, that's my theory.
You might be right. I had a zero balance and have had one for a few months. I'm just happy they didn't look at the CR even though it would have just been a PRM.
Same thing happened to me. My guest credit line was $500 I believe. Anyway, they sent me a Target Visa with a $5,000 credit line. I have not activated it yet so I'm not sure how they will report the guest card. I had a zero balance on my Guest card so that might be why they issued it to me too????
