I have read some articles & message boards online & I have read that the Target store card is terrible for your credit score. I have had a Target card for 2 years now & they have never raised me from my intial $200 limit. Has anyone else heard this about the Target card? Deciding if I should close this account in hopes of improving my score & lose the 2+ years of perfect credit history with them?? Advice please! Thank you!

If they are your oldest, open accoount, I would keep it open.

If Target is reporting correctly closing your account will not increase your score. Besides the card carries no AF so it doesn't cost you anything.

As I posted before, I had the Target Card (also a $200) limit. One year later they raised my limit to $400. In year three they bumped me up to a Visa with a limit of $3,500.

So there may be something with your credit that is preventing a rise in limits or a conversion. I wish I had the answer for you but just to let you know there are victories with Target.
