I just checked creditexpert and saw that my score had dropped several points. So I started checking each account and found Target showing as closed by consumer. I called and the rep says I closed the acct on July 27. I called and asked a few questions about cl increases and apr reductions. I told the rep that the policy of no increases until a new card is issued or whatever they were saying, was ridiculous. Nothing was ever discussed about closing the acct. The rep just took it upon himself to close the acct because I didn't like the policy.
Luckily today the "NICE" rep reopened it for me. Geez. You have to watch everything like a hawk.

    Hey,

I'm glad you caught it when you did.

Imagine trying to use it in a long line of people.

    Whew.....

My experience with Target has been similar but for different reasons. What is going on with them? I'm really disappointed. I just paid them off and the card is sitting and will continue to sit. Glad you caught it!

I hope that the account doesn't show closed forever. My husband had a account closed by mistake 3 years ago. Reopened immediately. Every month the balance is changed but account still shows as closed on all 3 reports. We don't know what the effect is score wise. If we dispute, the account will likely disappear.

12.90% is a JOKE...9.90% isn't much better...(I have to wait till 11/2004 for it to happen)???

OURS ARE IN THE SOCK DRAWER!!!

AUTOMATIC INCREASES are NOT going to happen!!!

some reps think it's funny to gladly close the mean consumer's account, instead of trying to get them to stay as a customer. If that happens enough times though, they won't have a job.

You guys have to remember that it's not TARGET that is doing this stuff, it's Retailers National Bank. Two completely different entities. Target's name is on RNB's card.

RNB works for TARGET...and if they have a "BUNCH" of unhappy customers...BOTH WILL SUFFER!!!

If you shop at TARGET tomorrow and you are TICKED OFF at your TARGET VISA/RNB card, you will use CAPITAL ONE or CHASE or BofA or CITIBANK or DISCOVERCARD or AMEX...NOT TARGET VISA!!!

    Amen!

I've had the Target card since '95. I've only gotten 1 credit line increase that I requested shortly after I joined CreditNet. Target has lost my business. I've even spoken with a Supervisor. They don't care about the customer that they do make money off. I usually carry a balance but I recently did a bt to Discover @ 0% 'til April 2003.

    Target has lost my business.

I have had my Target Guest Card since 1997. I have only had one $100 increase during these five years. I just recently sent a letter to Target-RNB and told them I am considering ending my relationship with them. I guess I better check my report, they may just go ahead and close the account to be spiteful as they did to LKH. Even if I don't ever use that card, I would like to keep it open for the positive tradeline.

I believe Retailers National Bank is owned by Target.
