So I have had a Target Guest Card for 4 months now. Started with a $200 limit, and just got a letter in the mail from them saying they upped the limit to $500. I want to get this new limit reported on EX and EQ, its already correct on TU. What's the best way to do this? Buy something large, wait a billing cycle and return it. Has anyone tried that with success? Thanks
Target likes you using the card. But, once you reach 500 you may have to request credit line increases. And, it seems that their standard increases after 500 are in 100 increments. Supervisors can bump it another 100 if they feel like it... but don't ever expect large bumps on a guest card after 500.. just my experience. also, if you request line increases from here on, expect 1 hard inquiry. Yes, hard.
Be careful when you dispute a positive account, the CRA could just as easily delete rather than update. It is better to ask the OC to report it correctly, than to risk an accidental deletion of a positive trade line. BTW: from looking at one of my PDF archived PrivacyGuard reports this is how it looks like all three CRAs report the limits for Target Guest Cards. EQ-0 EX-High Balance TU-Credit Limit
My Target card is at 900.00 CL and I've had it since 1998. Seems getting any CL above this is denied. Maybe that's their max, who knows?!!! Last Cl increase I had was about 2 yrs ago.
Re: Re: Target Guest Card So if I sent them a statement and asked that they update the credit limit, they handle that as if I had disputed the account? I thought they were supposed to put what I wanted if they DF doesnt respond.
Re: Re: Target Guest Card Fat chance they'll fix it. For the record, I disputed it with EX and EQ months ago...they verified the incorrect limit on both (idiots)
Re: Re: Target Guest Card They can either UPDATE or DELETE; the choice is theirs... That's why most people say to leave any positive trade line be, no matter what. Its better to have it on without a credit limit (or with an inaccurate credit limit), than to get it knocked off because they deleted the entry to quick fix your dispute.
1k here.. so it's not a 900 limit.. but with 1k.. I feel like I could buy the whole store twice over. Good for ratios though You can also take 700 of it, apply it to a Target Visa.. go back to 200.. work it back up again Easier way to get a credit line increase on the visa.
They won't approve me for a Visa for some reason that I can't figure out. I just applied today for an Amex and got approved but getting the Target Visa is hard.
