Saw this post in the target rate thread; I too haven't seen my Taget guest card report to any of my CR, and it's been almost a couple of months. I haven't used it either.. probably never will, it was the Target Visa I was after.

So do you need to use it for it to show?

    hhh329,

If you don't use Target Guest Card, they will not report or update the account to the bureau.

Also if you don't use it they will probably never offer to upgrade it to the Visa.

    DaveLV,

I have Target Guest Card for two yrs and I used it. They didn't offer any upgrade to Target Visa. I have to apply for it and I got approved last year. By the way, I called them and they told me to apply on the web. They didn't upgrade my Guest to Visa.

Can I use it and pay immediately at the store without a statement? I don't want to have another account with a balance, as I'd hate to see "too many accounts with balances" on my score interpretation. (Already carrying balances on 4 CCs)

I've paid my Target Visa bill in the store without a statement, so I don't see why you couldn't do the same with the guest card. Although I've never had the guest card, and I've already answered at leaat one question incorrectly tonight. :)

Kewl, looks like I'll be stopping by Target this wknd. Come to think of it, I don't think I've even stepped into a Target before, always go to Wal-Mart coz they have a Wal-Mart SuperStore here: Get some golf balls and a bag of shrimp at the same time, very convenient!

F.I.C.O. "codes" are just pulled out of a hat (OR FROM THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR)...just like the score.

You need to get like 5 more accounts (and don't use them) so you have <50% of your accounts with balances.

You could owe $100 each on ten cards, and have ONLY ten cards total...TOTAL OWED $1,000...TOO MANY ACCOUNTS WITH BALANCES!!!

Even if the credit limits totaled $100,000 for the 10 cards...

You would be at 1%...but the CODES may get you DENIED...

GEORGE, and why I don't want to use it and have a balance on it. By the time I get the statement, by the time I pay, by the time the account show $0, by the time they report the $0 bal to the CB, by the time the CB update, , I might possibly be looking at May before my CR shows that $0 balance on my guest card (that is if it ever gets reported.)

    hhh329,

They will not report your account history since you don't have any balances. They don't have any payment or account history to report to the bureau. How can creditors give you credit without account reporting with no balances. It will tell creditors you don't use the card. If you don't use the card, it will help your score. $cc is not too much compared to mine and others.

    Ron,

I will try: use and immediately pay and see what happens. If it doesn't report, no biggie, I already have another retail card, Lowes.

Why is the # of accounts w/o balances so important to me? Now that all my reports are all clean, I need to utilize EVERY technique to improve my FICO score.

Gone 44 days w/o applying. My target date for 6mos is June 23. Then I will go APPLY HAPPY! Will do it the same day too, so as to maybe have it not shown. (hmm, I wonder how soon the CBs post inquiries once you apply)

    hhh329,

I have Lowes account and they haven't report my account since October of last year. They didn't report to the bureaus every month. Everytime they report may ccoutn is $0 balance even I use it.If they report your account to the bureaus, it doesn't help much to your credit. Target report to the credit bureaus every month.
