I have had a Target Guest card since April. The limit was only $200. I received my statement today and was surprised to see that my limit is now $500. I thought a limit increase only happended after 6 months. Is this an indication of a conversion to a Target Visa soon?
I GOT A $500 INCREASE EARLY LAST YEAR ON VISA (I CALLED ON THE PHONE) They ARE supposed to LOOK to see if you qualify for an INCREASE every 6 months...BUT NEVER HAVE!!!
No increases for me (7+ months). Last excuse was "Insufficent number of on-time payments" (BULL) WHAT-EVER...
I got a pretty rapid increase also. I got the Target Guest Card in April with a $200 limit. I now have a $500 limit.
For me, it was "inconclusive payment history." Somehow, they needed to place a hard inquiry on Experian to find that information...
Re: Re: Target increase already I have never asked for a CL increase. I just receive my statements with an increase noted at times. I received pretty rapid increases from both Target and my BP gas card.
This could be a case of the "Entry Level FICO" principle. If they like your FICO when you first get the card, they may give you quick credit limit increases. If they think your FICO is right on the borderline, and they did you a huge favor by granting you any credit at all, then their subsequent behavior will be grudging and suspicious, with lots of ridiculous excuses thrown in. I get the feeling, though, that borderline cases like me, who got the card two years ago, would simply be declined today. New Target cardholders today are more carefully selected, and more likely to be on the fast track. Just a theory of mine...
In my opinion, I believe you were probably already entitled to the $500 CL. About 2 years ago when I received the Target Guest card, the initial CL was $500. Once Target started issuing the visa, my Guest card was automatically upgraded to the visa with a CL of $5000. Since then my CL remained the same until last month when I called and ask! They gave me an additional $1500.
