George - it was me. I PFB'd from 15.9 to 9.9 6 months after I got the card (I went from 18.9 to 15.9 before I even got the card via phone).

Good luck - it's got to be based on some kind of profit score-- or random kindness depending on who answers your letter. I got the reduction but my partner didn't.

    Good luck-

    George,

My initial APR was 15.9%. PTTHHHH! When I called to activate, I told them the APR was not competitive with my other options. If they could not lower it I 'may not' want the card. They gave me 12.9%. A few months later I used PFB to request 9.9%. The response to my PFB was the number to customer service. I immediately sent another PFB explaining that I was writing to the corporate offices because CS was unable to help me. Again I requested 9.9% telling them I love Target and would like to use the card ( I had not used it ) if the APR was more competitive with my other credit options. The same person responded with an email giving me 9.9% effective immediately.

Remember George, your goal is to get 9.9%, not to let them know how unhappy you are with what you have and why you don't need their card. Try using PFB again with a bit more diplomacy until you get what you want. Good luck to you.

I basically told them I want their BEST...9.90% is my UPPER LIMIT...(I really DON'T want to pay that high of a rate...but I would if I really needed to)

    Target Score?

Sorry for deviating a bit, but while we're talking about Target...

I've got a Target Guest Card with a $400 CL.

What kind of score do I need for a Target Visa?
    Which report doe they pull?

    Ted,

Kind of off subject, but how did your EQ score drop by such a large amt and your other scores have risen?

    Re: Target Score?

That's the million dollar question for me also...since I've searched all over this board for someway to explain FICO's scoring method for justifying my score reduction...

BTW...I promise to one day (within the next week or so) to post my before and after credit story since a few others have emailed me for this oddity as well.

In short...I have been PERFECT since my BK7 discharge in April '98. Since 11/01, I've been correcting my CRs by having the CRAs update CO accts to "Incl in BK" and deleting duplicate accounts. I did, however, close 2 retail CCs (Macy's & WFNB/Express) cards though. I do have a mortgage which I finalized in Jan 02, but all the INQs were happening back in Oct and Nov with the 692 score showing. Unfortunately, I can't remove EFX INQs as well as I have with EXP.

Nevertheless, I just can't understand by EFX FICO has reduced my scores so much...

RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR is out of all the "HIGHER" numbers...

I'd like to know also...I paid OFF tons of balances and LOST points...
