I got a Target signature card last November and the credit line is not being reported correctly on my Experian credit report. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem?

    So it not just me?

I have gotten Experian to investigate the account twice. They fixed it twice but the next month the account goes back to listing the high limit where the credit line should be. I have also called Target several times and they say to have Experian fix it. Experian says they will not investigate it again.

I am thinking of writing a letter to the CEO of target. Any suggestions on how to get the computers of these two companies to communicate correctly?

You are beating a dead horse trying to get them to correct that issue; I have tried more times than I care to tell.

You may be right. What have you already tried?

What is so messed up is that it reports CORRECT on 1 bureau & INCORRECT on the other 2.

They say it is the CRA's software, but my point is "it will only report what you tell it to".

But my Mervyn's have reported correctly since 1990(when I opened the account) till this very day.

I have dispute, sent in copies of statements showing C/L,written to correspondence depts, executive relations, etc to no avail.

I gave up since I closed my Guest card & combined with my Target Visa.

Interesting. My Target account is reporting correctly with the other two CRA's. I am pretty sure that the problem lies with Target. More specifically with the database that Target uses. If I could get the name of Target's Chief Information Officer (CIO) I could send him or her a letter.

I got a credit line increase from target on 6/10. Experian updated the credit line manually to the old credit line on 6/21. This leads me to believe that the computers at target are never sending the correct information to Experian. Experian must have called Target when I they started the investigation and got the old credit limit. Then they sat on the investigation for three weeks and just manually fixed the item.

This would not be such a big deal but I wanted to keep the Target signature card as one of my two store cards. The other one is Walmart.

I guess I will write a letter to one of the higher ups at target. Does Target respond to planet feedback?

Target doesn't report credit limit to the CRA but Target Visa Card does. They just report the highest amount that you owe on the card.

It is "bounced" to thier online team,& they basically handle everything;do not b surprise when you get the response to "CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE" .

It pisses me off when customer service tries to feed you a line of crap,& then you have to get "stern" to get your point across.

But I don't think you will get anywhere with planetfeedback, simply because it will stop with c/s.

They have no leverage to b/s with me because they see I have every account they issue.

    Peace,

I am looking at my Transunion report dated 5/13/02 & my Target Guest Card c/l is in fact reported on here. It is NOT reported on my Equifax/Experian reports, only highest balance.

    Thanks for your comments.

Strange, On my Equifax credit report the account is reported correctly. Under the column "high credit" the credit limit number is listed and account has the notation "amount in H/C column is credit limit".

The account is reported correctly on both Equifax and Trans Union. The problem I am having is just with Experian. I did not mention this before but Experian lists on their credit reports the balance that was on an account for the prior 20 months and the credit limits you have had for the same period. This information is listed under a section called "Balance History". All my other accounts have information in this section. My Target account does not even have a Balance History section.

The problem with this reporting problem is that the incorrect reporting is impacting both my FICO and profitability scores.

Thanks for the help. I believe I will attempt to tilt at windmills and send a letter or two to Target. Thanks for your info. It will save me time trying to go through the normal channels.

It's sad that an outstanding company like Target can't get their database people to do an acceptable job. This battle has been going on since February so I will post any new data I have. Wish me luck.
