    Hello All,
Well me and wife went to target store yesterday for first time..I must say WOW..The store is huge and has alot of stuff and it looked like quality merchandise too..I am a big slim jim fan and i buy a can with 15 for 3.59 here at price choppers..At target they where 3.99 for 24 and bigger..Wife liked some of the clothes too..I know where i will be x-mass shopping..Anyways i have a couple ??'s on there card..I filled the app out and got the 10% off bill and was approved for $300...I also saw something like card holders get special deals and whatnot. Is this true? Also the A.P.R. is 21% tho has anyone gotten this lowered?? I have citi-bank, Discover and theose cards is this one worth keeping?? Thanx

Bill B- The high APR rate is about the norm for retail cards. I really don't expect the retailers to lower their APR rates.

Most of us have it as a credit builder as the FICO model requires a retail card for the max. score. The Target card is popular as most of us with a FICO over 600 can get one. With the rumors that Target retail cards will be coverted to a Target Visa cc only adds to their popularity.

    Best regards,
    Sam

    Just to clarify,

The Target Visa will only be issued to those existing cardholders who qualify. All other cardholders will not be transferred. The Target Visa benefits I have previously posted are still available, but ONLY for the Visa not the Guest Card. Search for my name and Target and see what you find.

    Still bums me out.

    They denied me! :(

Bk to recent. Even though my Mervyns is still open (RNB) and I have a great record with them.

Sigh** oh well, time to move on....

While you can get secured and maybe some unsecured sub-prime cards out of BK, it will be next to impossible to get any new retail accounts just after bankruptcy. You may be able to get one after about three or four years post BK as long as you have re-established credit and have not messed it up. Chances are it won't be an instant approval and still probably a denial for which you will have to contact the credit card company and plead your case. At that point the decision might be over-ridden.

Hope this helps someone avoid some un-necessary inquiries on their reports.

RNB will generally keep an account open as long as you keep it in good standing.

That's interesting, although I think it is more the exception than the rule. I'm curious, anyone else with a BK less than a year get a Target card or any other retail cards? Maybe we need to re-visit Nana's "cards for people with BK" list.

I know Target was on that list, but it seemed like a lot of members that got it were out of BK at least a year.

I received several deletes and inquiry deletes on my experian. Think I should try to apply for Target, I was denied last month. How long should I wait? I know Saar applied every one to two months to keep getting a free credit report. Advice?

If you tell us your F.I.C.O. (EQUIFAX) score, we will have a better answer. TRANS UNION AND EXPERIAN HAVE THEIR OWN SCALES THAT DON'T COMPUTE WITH EQUIFAX F.I.C.O.

trick is with target, get all your negatives "in dispute" to artificially raise your score into the 600's then you'll get the card :)

    Bill B-

The Target card serves as our retail card to help max. our FICO score.

I received approval 5 years post bk-13. Not sure what the Beacon was, I going to guess around the 650 range. $300 cl.

    Best regards,
    Sam

After 4 consecutive timely payments of more than the mininum, my b.s. $200 card (highest I charged was like $120) turned into a somewhat decent $500! I'm sure it will keep raising. I didn't get the card to fit the FICO model cause I already had Macy's, Bloomies, and Chevron. I got the card because I love that store and shop there frequently for the kids. It's nice to get special perks for being a card member.

HAS ANYBODY MAXED OUT THEIR $200 TARGET CARD?
Then pay in full...wait a week and MAX it out again?

    Or make a $1,000 payment?

There has to be some tricks to get a $200 card to grow...

    If I got a $200 card, I would FLIP!!!

THE NEXT HIGHEST CREDIT LIMIT IS $5,000...THAT'S 4% !!!

    TOTALLY OUT OF LINE...

Does target guest card even report? I thought i read somewhere that it doesn't and there for it wouldn't help in the fico score..But i like the store very much..What kind of PERKS do we get with the card? That is the main reason i wanted it..
