Doing a search on Target pulls up too many threads for me to sift through right now so I'm taking the lazy approach.
What has been the success of having the APR reduced? Was there any special strategy used or just a simple call to ask?
Has anybody had an increase in their credit line before activation? Strategy?

2 months ago, before I activated the card, I called the number on the back of the card and asked for APR reduction. Said, it was my highest apr card, didn't want to have to put it in the "sock drawer". She said, I see that I can offer you 12.9 (opened at 18.9). That was it, she then activated the card for me.

I don't know what it was she saw. A notation in my file, my CR, not sure, but she followed through.

Forgot to add this, putting a CC in the "sock drawer" is a GEORGE trademark :)

    I just borrowed it.

I got turned down but was told by a credit analyst at their customer service department to wait until I have the turndown letter in hand and call them for reconsideration. I applied on Jan 4, I haven't received the turndown letter yet, but you can bet your last money that I will call them when I get it.

When did you call? I was close to the fourth? If so then chances are you were not in the system and the rep couldn't do anything.

Otherwise I'd call today and see if you're in. If so then you might be able to reconsider without the denial letter.

I called the next day after I applied online or maybe it was the same day. But I have no problem waiting, my score tends to improve almost weekly. I would never have applied when I did if I had realized that my EQ had dropped way down to 631. It is already up to 655 and climbing, but I may call them Monday. Or then again I might wait until I have the letter in hand a few days later. I'll post whatever happens.

I asked for an APR reduction when I activated my card and also for round up the credit limit. It was granted!. APR went from 15.9 to 12.9%. Limit from
    8.5k to 9k.

I keep calling until I ran into good cs. She lower my APR from 15.9% to 12.9% fixed APR. I haven't received my first bill yet so I don't know she really lower my rate. My billing cycle had just ended yesterday.

3 point APR reduction, no credit limit increase. I'll try for more in a few weeks.

Who knows. I was approved on Wednesday and called on Thursday for a limit increase and was told I would have to wait until I activate the card and then I would have 90 days to request it? What the hell is that?

    George,

I couldn't get them to lower my rate from 15.9% to 9.9% and it is tough. Most of the customer service told me that they couldn't lower the rates or increase credit limit until you showed me at least 6 months of account payment history. They also told me it is new account and can't get lower rate or limit increase. Finally, I called in customer service and ran into one nice customer service. She told me all she can lower to 12.9% fixed APR. I'm trying to increase my limit since the account is too new. I'm not pushing my luck.
