$6000 limit 18.9% interest. I was denied 2 week ago. I guess I answered the questions correctly this time :)

Now what is the deal on getting a lower APR or something. Tell me!!!

I was denied today. Not denied, but they said they'll have to look further into my situation. When they turned you down 2 weeks ago, what did you do since then that made the difference?

Sam how did you answer the questions?

I was denied a couple of months back, and my brother is still awaiting a response.

WHEN I CALLED...they said it was set by your "SCORE" ...

THE HIGHER THE F.I.C.O. SCORE, THE HIGHER THE INTEREST RATE...
    I HAVE 15.90% WITH A F.I.C.O. 711
    WIFE 741 F.I.C.O. SHE GETS 18.90%

    CLUELESS WONDERS...

    :(

Well. I disputed a bunch of closed accounts. These are crappy providian and Crap 1 and Old citibank accounts. I disputed them "ACCOUNT CLOSED".

5 Accounts which are showing open, are in dispute now.

My score is now 672 from 669 due to "in-dispute mode".

I guess target is not immune to the "in-dispute" system like some others are..

Anyone got a link to some tactics to lower the rates get higher limit?

Did you just straight re-apply, or did you ask for reconsideration?

    superadman,

I asked to reconsider my application and there is nothing that they can do about it. They cannot override it. They told me the application system is automation. Wait and re-apply again like I do and you may be get approval. They approved me in second time.

By the way, they denied my application without pulling any credit report. Second time, they pulled credit report from Equifax.

    George,

I asked them to get my APR from 15.9% to 12.9% APR after I called them a couple of times.

they lowered my APR when I called and activated the card. I told the rep. that the APR on my other cards ranged from 8.9-11.9% and that there is no way, that I would use a card with an apr of 18.9%.

If you do a search on the board, you will see that this tactic has worked for numerous people here on the board.

I believe somone stated, "the rep. is allowed to lower the APR one tier"

    Good Luck,

and never take no, from Target....they are just getting into the business with Visa

I have a rule, NEVER pay over 9.99%...

I will just use it 1 or 2 times per month and pay in full.

I SHOULD USE IT ONLY AT K-MART AND WAL*MART

    :)

ALL OTHER CARDS ARE 0.00% TO 11.99%...

    Reshod,

I kept calling back to the customer services for lowering my APR. I finally get a good rep to lower my rate from 15.9% APR to 12.9% APR. Most of them your account is too new for getting low rate. So we cannot do it at this time. You should wait another 3 months for lowering APR since you don't have any payment history. You knew that it is a lame excuse. I saw that a lot of people from this board had their rates lowered.

    George,

I used it to pay my lunch at Mc Donalds. Pay it in full monthly.

It's a new day, but I just learned that my EX is up 12 points to 725 and my EQ is DOWN a whopping 66 points to 631. That's going to put somewhat of a muzzle on my calls to the credit reconsideration department. But I still got balls...

mp$40 equifax. Both times. Score previously was 669 score now 672 (with disputes in effect).

I was bored, stuck in snow, and gave it a whirl.

    Ron(and others),

Speaking of paying with cc at McDonalds...

I need to get over something.

I pay cash at 7/11's and other convenience stores as well as at fast food places and just about anywhere the amount won't be more than $15.00. I would like to use my AA card to make these purchases (I pay it off every month) and also to help me track my spending on misc. items in Quicken. Only if I charge it will I have the record of the purchases recorded. Most of these places allow you to use cc's but I'm embarrassed to whip it out for such small purchases. Does anyone else have this problem? Do you other creditnetters regularly use credit for very small purchases? How do you feel about it? Do you feel like there is any derision for doing so from either the clerks or the other patrons?

A long time ago, I was embarrassed about using a credit card for small amounts. I don't feel so bad about it now. With the popularity of Check-card Visas and such, it's actually commonplace to pull out the plastic and run it. The other day, my husband charged $1.46. Now, I'd feel ridiculous for that small amount, but anything over $5.00 is fine by me. I'm out of checks right now, so my plastic (credit as well as Debit-Visa) is all that keeps me going right now.
