DH and I got car ins through one co. then we found ins cheaper through someone else (after Co #1 raised our premiums). Well we get a bill saying that there is no grace period if balance isn't paid by Sucha date 199X then the policy will be cancelled. So we just don't pay it. (they automatically renew, if you pay the bill, no signatures required) We get the other ins. with #2 Well about 9 months later a letter from a SMALL (bubba-like) CA comes in stating that we owe Ins CO #1 $190 because they covered us for 2 months even though we didn't pay the premium.....WTF?!?!?! Well it wasn't ont he CBR so I just let it go. Well then 3 months later CA CALLS here and I tell her to validate the debt. Well she calls back a month later, can't validate, only can say that Co #1 says we owe it cause they covered us (even though we didn't have ins cards or anything stating we were covered). Well she tells me that she'll just delete the account from their systems because it's a false debt. Well lo and behold, we get the CBRs recently while trying to get a new mortgage and we are told that the collection needs to be paid. So it's sitting there as a collection acct on DH's CBR and we never knew it. I was told it was null. Well to top it all off we were never notified by Co #1 as to the status of the acct going to a CA and the CA sent us ONE LETTER and called us about 4 times (each time, the EXACT same collector and each time I explained the problem, and she remembered it and then finally DID delete it and hasn't called) The ONLY Tradeline on the CBR regarding this acct is the Collection. So now what? send a validation letter right? "course this was from like 1999 so I don't have the original paperwork (original bill we didn't pay stating the 'no grace periood' thing) Thanks for the help! L. -Working hard to get all the past mistakes taken care of thanks to you all and your vast knowledge!!!!
does the CA have anything in writing, stating that it was a bad debt? Do you think she will give it to you in writing, since she admitted to it over the phone? Also, have you disputed the debt as not yours? I would send the validation letter. But I would do all three at the same time. That way, you will get it removed in the least amount of time.
nope, she told me (the CA) that it wouldn't be on the credit report. I specifically asked about that, she said that they don't report (LIE!!!, not surprised though lol). Like I said this was 2+ years ago so I totally forgot about it, no letters have come in from either the OC or the CA since she told me it was being 'deleted' ......... Thanks for the help!! I'll do it! I think that I disputed the debt with the CRA ( I disputed a bunch) so we'll see what happens. Thanks again!! L.
This might work...send PROOF OF INSURANCE from company #2 to company #1 or the CA or both and tell them to remove the "BADDIE" or SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES!!!
This can be easy to clear up. I know, I am an insurance agent. This is what you have to do. What you have to do is get a policy declaration page from the current company that shows that you were covered for the time that the other company is claiming that they were covering you. You can't have coverage with two companies at once. Well, you can, but if both policies are in effect you can decide which one to be covered by. If you had two insurance companies at once, then the one that is trying to collect from you has no case. You just have to be able to show that you were already covered. But that is the key, you have to be able to show coverage for that time period. Hope this helps.
thank you all so much!!! I hope I can get the info from Co #2 I had ordeals with them also (they changed my policy number, sent me duplicate policies, said I wasn't covered, then I was.... all sorts of CRAP! grrrrrr), I FINALLY got Progressive Ins, BTW and love them LOL Thanks a TON!!! L.
suedan question are you an independent agent or are you with a specific company? do you do home insurance policies? do you offer anything in Texas? do you know anyone who pulls Equifax for their credit report portion of the scoring? please see my thread with this question rather than my intruding on this one further always glad to have a subject matter expert's input...
Re: suedan question Well I actually work for a company. Right now we don't write homeowners or auto in Texas. That state has given us a lot of headaches. We have had a lot of claims there. I wish that I could have helped you. We used to do it there and if that changes where I can help you, I will definitely post back to you.
