You guys in the past have been helpful, very helpful. With just a little bit of work I was able to get my EQ FICO score up from 541 to 602, now Im working on topping 650. My biggest question comes down to what credit card company is likely to offer me a credit card with about $1000 limit? Not so concerened with APR as I'm not going to use it much, however at this point it seems that getting one more credit card with about $1000 limit seems the best bet on upping my score another 20-30 points along with paying down my current card and getting the account reactivated. Oh and Household won't work, theyll never give me a card Im sure after they sold off a $1800 account I had with them.

    Hi Dulanic,

Have you tried the method of taking out a CD-secured loan to add a positive tradeline to your reports? That alone can up your score by close to 20 points (speaking from my personal, er, my wife's personal, experience)

Here is how it works: Deposit, say, $1000 in a 6-month CD with a bank/credit union. Then take out an installment loan for 6 months, with the CD as security, for the same 6 months. Pay it off always on time.

Caveat: Some banks want to pull a hard inquiry on your report to lend your own money to you, so if that's the case, run away from them. Ask them upfront, explaining your purpose. Some credit unions, and small community banks are willing to do this, not all do.

I lifted this idea from Fair Credit Movement's website, worked like a charm in my wife's case ... her score went from 640 to 733 by the end of 6 months!!
