I just want to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to all of the wise and giving people on this board. Because of all of you, I have taken control over my money, credit and business affairs. I had no idea that people could call and ask/tell businesses that they want better terms or they would take their business elsewhere. For a long time, myself and my husband have been going to companies with our hats in our hands; just glad that someone would give us credit and being ignorant that, at least at one point, we had good credit and deserved better terms. Now that we are credit rehabbing, because of the courage and knowledge gained from everyone on this board, we will walk out of a deal instantly if we feel that we are being taken advantage of. I am giving that big introduction because of a situation that recently occurred. I have an account with TCF Bank. They are an average bank. They love to gouge you on overdraft fees regardless if it's your fault or not. If you have 4 checks going through and 1 is a big check and the rest are small, they will put through the big check first and then get fees on the other checks. Well, that happened to us. I transferred too much to the savings and was off by $10 and I thought I had all of the checks covered. A bunch of checks came through at the same time and we ended up getting 4 fees. I called up and told them that I wanted a goodwill adjustment and the rep said that they couldn't do that. So, I said that I had a huge savings that I could take elsewhere and then she credited me all of those fees, just this one time. I never in my wildest dreams thought that a bank would do that. It's because of you guys, I realized that good credit or bad credit, my money is valuable and I don't have to spend it with a company that doesn't value my business. I have banked with them for many years and I know that my long relationship with them counts for something, now. I hope what I have written has made sense.. I just wanted to tell all of you, thanks guys!
Congrats, Milkmom! I agree that this board is the best in terms of teaching people how to be more assertive wrt financial issues. Good for you for pressing the bank on that issue!

Read the settlement it's really funny. The attorney(s) for NationsBank flailing around lying for their client trying to paint the practice as anything but a scheme to generate fees
