We finally got my husbands credit cleaned off, of negative balances. They all read Paid and $0 balance its a great feeling. Thanks for everyones help. I have a couple of questions now that we got that under control. Would the next step be to remove the deragtory items now that they are paid off? Most will be falling off next year or the year after. Is a goodwill letter the best chance you have a having removed early? Any suggestions welcome. We are so greatful for all your wonderful ideas and help. My husbands score was in the low 500's and now all three are well above 670 its amazing :) We are getting closer to that house.

It never hurts to try a goodwill letter, but the truth is you probably would have had better luck getting them completely removed if you negotiated that as part of your payment in full. Now that they've been paid and are showing as collections/charge offs with zero balances on your credit reports, you can ask to have them deleted, but that's about all you can do.

Congrats on improving your scores so much. I'm sure it's nice finally be back in the 700 range and closer to that home!
