I took my credit report and DV'd all of the collection agency's sent certified, how long do I wait to write my dv's and disputed collections to the CRA? Also when a collector refuses to validate, when do you start reporting them to the AG, BBB and FTC?
A collector is not required to validate. They must cease collection until validation is provided if the DV request was timely.
These are collections I never knew existed, I have never recieved any notices or bills from these agents. So that's what I wrote in the dv requests. On another note, I also discovered that my ex from ten years ago is allegedly my spouse and he has been using my name and SSN for renting apartments. There are about ten places I've never even resided at.
That doesn't matter - what Gib says still holds true. You should start disputing with the CRA's once you have received the green cards back. That would be identity theft - plain and simple. Could these collections be related?
I'd go to the police and file a report if you have proof that your ex is doing that. You'll need a police report when you start disputing things as identity theft. Put a fraud alert with the CRAs immediately. Contacting one should put it on all three now.
I have just done this after dv'ing and disputing and got four items removed, one was with the collection agency, they sent a letter stating they would delete it and the other three, TransUnion did after I placed a dispute on them. Hooray! I know who did this to me, he listed his name on my report, but I really want him to stay gone, filing a police report seems like the last resort and I really don't have anything substantial other than a pile of unrecognizable addresses, his name listed as my spouse, and now two unrecognizable debts reported. Experian seems to be the keeper of the fake addys, perhaps if I dispute them they will investigate? What puzzles me the most is that he is married, but he's still using my name/SSN to rent. Yikes!! He also has one of my old drivers licenses because at the time he liked the picture of me, I was informed by his best friend that his current wife resembles me. She has a pretty long rap sheet so I seriously doubt she has a positive credit rating. I'm afraid this may cost me more emotionally than financially.
If he's renting anywhere using your identity, file a police report. If he leaves and there is damage, or if he (or his wife) causes any kind of trouble, you'll have more worries than a credit report. He needs to be stopped now. Next thing you know, a sherriff could show up at your door with a warrant for your arrest based on something the wife did with your ID. I know you want him to stay gone, but if they are really using your identity you could have serious problems down the road. It bothers me that you say she has a pretty long rap sheet. Not the kind of person I'd want to be passing herself off as me.
