Well, I have done I can as far as letters and such for now. All my disputes and validations are in - just waiting for reponses now. I just sent a letter to transunion - I disputed 8 items, but they only investigated 7, just ignored the other one. I am asking for immediate deletion of that one. So, I am left with just reading the boards for now. I can't wait to get my responses so I can get on to the next step! I want to get my score up at least alittle bit before I apply for that car loan, if I can. I have decided to wait until the first week or two of July. That is when all the validations and verifications are due back. Also, I saw my score at equifax is inflated right now due to all the disputes. They have me at 648 right now. I read that the GM card pulls only equifax so I did apply for a card with them. I got immediate approval for a $4,000 cl. How weird is that?? Let's see if I actually get the card in the mail - I am not holding my breath waiting for it. I figured I would give it a try because any good credit I have will be falling off within the next couple of years. Well, except for the stinky little cl limit I have on my secured card. If I am going to wipe all of my credit history clean, I thought it might not be a bad idea to get something good on it. I am annoyed at one place I am paying right now. I ordered some stuff and they pulled a hard inquiry with one of the CRAs' -I forget who. They did give my a $400 cl to order stuff after that and I called them the other day to see if they report to the CRA's. NO!!! If they are going to pull a hard, they should at least report that I am paying on time!!!
As far as Equifax goes, you are right about the inflated score. If you want to get that car loan, apply now. The best way to go about it is to call the dealerships in your area and find out who pulls Equifax. When they pull your credit, they will ask about the items in dispute. Just explain to the finance manager that they aren't yours and you have no idea why they are there. I wish I could be more clear about this, but your Auto Score differs from your FICO. They are directly related but I have little information on how they relate. All I can offer is that previous auto history and payment information play a role. Also, a tip for you....If you have any charge-offs, the dealer should see those differently than the CRAs do. At Toyota, we see them as money that you never have to pay back, because they have been charged off. Good Luck.
Everybody says that the scores car dealers and mortgage lenders pull are different from the fico scores we get. Not that I have seen. When I bought my car last June, they pulled equifax through a 3rd party vendor and the score they had was exactly the same as the fico I pulled from equifax an hour before going to the dealership. As for my mortgage, I applied in November 2002. I checked my transunion and equifax ficos before applying. They pulled a tri-merge and those 2 scores again were exact. My experian fico was 28 pts higher than creditexpert.
Thanks Chipper. Well, I do have a previous auto history on equifax and transunion. However, they differ - equifax says paid on time, transunion says charge off. Trying to get that removed - but that is another of my frivolous marks! It was a lease and it was paid, it was the turn in costs that weren't paid - which is one of my judgements! THat will be paid off soon, but I am going to go to work on that next to see if I can get if off. Hopefully I can find someone that pulls equifax - but I think honda here pulls transunion. I will just bring a copy of my equifax and ask if they can tell which CRA is correct! I don't want to go and talk to the finance guy yet - my co-signer is out of town for another week! Maybe I should just go and get it over with - ask if a cosigner would make a difference. At least that way I could concentrate on researching other cars if this one won't be an option!
Forgot to say, I do have a few charge offs showing on my reports - but I am working on having them removed also. They were included in bk and don't state that.
