Briefly: ICSystems placed a paid collection on my credit reports one year ago. This was not my bill and I never paid it. I disputed it with all three CRA's. TU dropped it from the report. EX and EQ verified twice. I then tracked down the original creditor who wrote me a letter saying that they had never dealt with me. I sent that to EX and EQ, asking them to verify with the creditor, not the CA. They verified with the CA who told them the account was valid. They did not contact the credtor. I then sent a validation letter to the CA. They gave me an address for validation. The letter was returned to me about 30 days later unclaimed. I got the address for payments and sent in another validation letter. They never responded, but the negative was removed from my EX report. The post office has lost the green card so I have no proof of delivery. I spent over an hour on the phone with them this morning trying to track it down. I just found out it was still on my EQ report. I called IC systems to get an address for validations. It was my intention to send two CRRR letters, one to the validation address, the other to the payments address. They refused to give me an address but transfereed me to the nastiest person I have dealt with in a long time. She refused to even acknowledge receiving the validation letter, but said all CRA's were told on 10-3-01 to remove the negative from my report. She said that I would have to deal directly with EQ and to ask them to contact IC Systems. I explained that I already had, and each time IC verified the debt was correct. She would not let me talk with a supervisor and hung up. I then tried to do an online dispute with EQ. They told me that I would have to call in the dispute. When I called, I was told that they do not take disputes over the phone. I would have to put it in writing and mail it. I offered to give her the name and number of the IC lady, but she refused. I asked for a supervisor, got the voicemail and left a message. I am now waiting for the call back. Sorry to rant, but everyone seems to acknowledge this is not my debt, but no one will remove it from my report.
I've had a chance to calm down. How do I resolve this? Do I send a letter to EQ disputing this like I did in the past a couple times? I am afraid that IC will verify the info again and then I am in the same place. It seems so simple. EQ can call the creditor (they have the number) and find it is a bogus item. Or they can write the creditor (I sent them the address). Or they can call IC Systems and talk to the lady I spoke with. It will only take a few minutes. Instead, they will not take an online dispute. They won't take a phone dispute. They want me to put it in writing. Yet, each time I do that, they verify the item. Unless someone has a better idea, I will put together a strongly worded letter to EQ with backup documents and FAX it and send it CRRR tomorrow. I have had enough.
