I've been lying low trying to avoid a judgement creditor until I had enough to settle with them. I just found out they attached my mom's bank acct. (I'm a signature on it and they're legally allowed to in my state) It's for $5000 and they have me by the short hairs. I don't want to cause my mom any more distress and want to get rid of this quickly. She's willing to loan me the 5,000 to get rid of the lein on her account, but my question is, after it's paid off, what kind of paper work should I get from the legal people showing the judgement has been satisfied?
They need to give you a "Satisfaction of Judgment" sometimes called a "Satisfaction Piece". It is a letter stating that the judgment has been fully paid and there are no longer any claims attached to it
Isn't there also a catch to the "Satisfaction of Judgment"? Isn't there a way that another CA can pick up on the same debt without specification within that document?
