They have his signature

    Serious Question:

If a gas card company claims 'Jack' opened an account with them five years ago and he writes to this company to say the charged off account, as showing on credit report, is not his and please remove, etc. and after exchanging letters they send Jack copies of a signed application is Jack just totally screwed with no hope? The address on the application copy is in a different state than where Jack lives now. Address is not on record as far as Jack can tell, with the CRA's. Bummer is: Looks like his signature, is definitely his social. The copy of the application is not a scanned copy but a copy machine copy. Would they not have sent a scanned copy if they could of or not?.....Will Jack just have to live with this negative item until it falls off his records?
This question probably states the obvious so no lectures needed but good advice or info is what we are hoping for. And if there is no hope we want to know as soon as we can and we will move onto the next thing if so.

    Thanks :)

Not once in your question did you state that this is not Jack's account

The question is: did Jack EVER have an account with this gas compay?

1*The copy of the application is not a scanned copy but a copy machine copy.
2*The question is: did Jack EVER have an account with this gas compay?
    """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
1*A copy machine copy can be a fake too. So how do we know the signature was not transposed to the copy?
2*Not really because once a customer or once owed don't mean always a customer or always owed.
    The questions are
    a-Is the copy legit?
b-even if the signature and the copy are legit. does that mean that he still owes it?
All this copy means is that if in fact it's legit is that at some period in time there was an agreement.
It says absolutely nothing about the current status of any account.
