I was stupid and payed two medical bills that went to collection. I was told by the CA on the phone ( I know get it in writing) they would remove them TOTALY from my credit report for payment in full. The bills were for $30.00 and $71.00. I didnt think this was going to be a problem. Anyway now the CA keeps telling me its not in our notes and stuff like that. How do I fight this?
Unless you have an unimpeachable record of the conversation -- like a recording -- there is likely little you can do other than to try to convince the CA to be nice guys. Doubt that it would do any good, but you might try a conversation with the OC to see if he can be of assistance.
Two items here: 1) I hope you kept great notes of your discussions; I suggest you write a letter detailing your verbal agreement of payment for deletion. Include date & time of call, person spoken with, etc. Request deletion of tradeline specifically. Make sure to send Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested. Let them know you will be disputing this item w/the CRAs. 2) Are you sure this will not be deleted? How long has it been since you paid the accounts? It does take some processing time to report to the CRAs, it can be almost a two month cycle depending upon dates. Also, were they expecting you to dispute this tradeline?
While you may not have proof of the conversation, you do have proof of payment by submitting copies of the cancelled checks. And as BIZWIZ noted, it might just be a timing thing - creditors reporting to CRAs.
Biz touches upon a good note - they may have been expected you to dispute the tradelines through the credit reporting agencies. Often times, an agreement can be reached wherein a consumer will dispute and the agency agrees not to respond in lieu of payment. This allows them to uphold their contractual language necessary to keep their credit reporting subscriptions. I'd wait a while longer to see if in fact they delete. If not, dispute it through the credit reporting agencies in order to see if it will be deleted.
Good advice from Biz and Apex. Wait a little while, then dispute with the CRAs and see if it's removed.
